Barbara Freethy never fails to deliver, and in book 6 of the Off The Grid: FBI Series she doesn’t disappoint. She is the master of grabbing your attention from page 1 and keeping it throughout all the twists and turns in the story. When Flynn gets a message from his mentor (the father of his first true love who died tragically young), he agrees to meet him. Before he is able to talk to him, Arthur is killed. Since Arthur was a Federal Judge the FBI is involved in investigating his murder, and Flynn is determined to track down his killer. Enter Callie, Arthur’s stepdaughter, who is just as determined to prove her mother had nothing to do with the murder. Not everyone is who they appear to be, and will Flynn and Callie live to solve the mystery of the murder and recognize their strong feelings for each other? You won’t want to put this book down.

Suspense, drama, romance, this story has it all! This story between FBI agent, Flynn MacKenzie, and chef Callie Harper, will have you sitting on the edge of your seat! When Arthur is murdered, his step daughter, Callie, teams up with Arthur’s friend Flynn to try to clear her mother as a suspect for the murder. While Flynn isn’t convinced that Callie’s mom didn’t do it, he isn’t convinced she did either. There are a lot of people on the suspect list, and Callie wants to help Flynn narrow the list down. But in the process of trying to find the killer, they end up not only fighting to stay alive, but fighting their undeniable attraction for each other. This story had so many twists and turns. It kept me guessing the whole way through as to who the murderer really was! I loved it!!! You can’t go wrong with any Barbara Freethy book but this series is an absolute favorite! You don’t have to read this book in order in the series, it can be read as a standalone. However, I would highly recommend reading them all because you’ll love them!

Ms. Freethy does such an incredible job with the development of her characters and storylines. Although this is the 6th book in the FBI series it can be read as a standalone. Flynn is an FBI agent with an interesting past. He and his mother were left alone by his father who was involved in the art world. He had a gallery but we learn that he was also an art theft. Flynn joins the FBI because of his knowledge of the art world but to also try to find his father who's disappeared. He finds he enjoys the work and is good at it. He had the good fortune to have a girlfriend who's father was like a father to him, which was especially important when the girl passed away. He's not heard from the man in several years but when he calls and asks to meet because he needs Flynn's help, of course Flynn goes. The night doesn't go as plan but he's intrigued by a beautiful woman who happens to be his friend's stepdaughter, Callie. Callie has also had much tragedy in her life, the lost of her father and then her mother's mental health problems which has made her more of the mom in the relationship. When the two work together to find a killer, they are drawn to each other but neither is looking for a relationship nor wants to put themselves out there to be hurt again. The attraction is strong and they learn to lean on each other and slowly trust the other. There are many twists and unexpected turns as they work to figure out the missing pieces to the puzzle. You won't want to put this book down! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Another wonderful addition to Barbara Freethy’s FBI series. I loved it! Intrigue, suspense, action romance….it was GREAT! The series is best read in order to be able to follow what happens to the characters, but well worth reading them all. I highly recommend!

Ms. Freethy has written another suspense-filled nail biter. Ruthless Cross had me reading well into the middle of the night. I couldn’t put it down. Ms. Freethy’s talent for character and plot development is amazing! Ruthless Cross can be read as a stand alone, but you won’t want to miss the first 5 books in this great series. Each book tells the story of one of the friends who trained together at Quantico. I recommend Ruthless Cross and the whole Off the Grid: FBI Series. I am looking forward to reading Book 7 in the series.

Ruthless Cross (Off the Grid: FBI Series Book 6) is an exciting mystery involving serial killings of art patrons/dealers and stolen art. It’s a who did it in the art world. Flynn MacKenzie, an FBI agent, is contacted by a federal judge and art patron who is worried someone is following him. They plan to meet at an art gallery opening, however Arthur ends up dead before they can talk. The search for his killer is on. Callie, Arthur’s stepdaughter, and Flynn are introduced and sparks fly. Callie wants to help Flynn in his search for the killer and make sure Flynn doesn’t accuse her mother of the murder. This story is exciting, full of nonstop action, and romance. It’s a perfect read for all who like romance and mystery together. I really enjoyed it from start to finish.

Ruthless Cross is a great story filled with intrigue and suspense. It was well-paced with several twists I didn’t see coming. I enjoyed the characters, especially the relationship between Callie and her mom as well as between Callie and Flynn. I always like having the involvement of previous and future characters from the series included in the storyline. Another great adventure that was highly entertaining! I definitely recommend this book and look forward to Savannah’s story!

I was pleasantly surprised to see another book in the FBI Off the Grid series by Barbara Freethy. I've been following this series since book 1 and have loved them all. When the books for the Quantico team was completed, I thought that was it. I am so happy there was a competing team at Quantico and they're all wrapped up in this overarching new team! Flynn was betrayed by his father as a teen. Left with his mother to fend for themselves, Flynn's father took off after an art heist gone wrong. Flynn grew up fast. Callie has been her mother's protector since she was a child and her father died. Mental illness and depression keep her mother from being able to cope with life. Callie grew up fast. Now Flynn and Callie are working to find out who killed the Federal Court Judge who was Flynn's mentor and Callie's stepfather. People known to this couple are not who or what they seem. Many twists and turns culminating in an ethical challenge for Flynn. Will he make the correct decision and bring down an art theft ring, or the right decision and pursue the possibility of love? Can he do both? Can Callie live with either of those decisions? A fabulous addition to the Off the Grid series. Can't wait for the next one.

Another winner from Barbara Freethy! Suspense is my favorite type of book to read, so I really enjoy this series. Flynn and Callie are both strong, likable, characters. Usually I can figure out who the bad guys are before the end of the book, but this one stumped me. Good story, lots of action and some new characters that hopefully will be getting their own stories soon

So many secrets come out during Flynn's investigation into the murder of the judge. Relationships are started, changed and ended. The author did a great job of taking me along with Flynn and Callie to gather the clues and figure out the mystery and solve the crime.

I have yet to read a Barbara Freethy title that I do not enjoy. She is at her best when plotting suspense. RUTHLESS CROSS, Book 6 in Freethy’s Off the Grid FBI series, is another winner. FBI Agent Flynn MacKenzie and Callie Harper have an instant attraction, yet each has reasons not to trust their instincts or each other. As they work together to solve the murder of Callie’s stepfather, they both have to come to terms with their individual pasts and how that affects their future. Freethy always delivers with well-drawn characters I can relate to on many levels (even though I’m decades older than they are, have never been a law enforcement officer and have never run for my life!). Her secondary characters also add a depth to the story, especially in RUTHLESS CROSS. She also plots a great mystery with the tangled mess untangled by the end of the book in a way that makes sense. All of the clues are there (as they should be) but they are not so obvious that you’ve solved the mystery by Chapter 4. If you’ve never read any of Freethy’s Off the Grid series, you can easily jump in with RUTHLESS CROSS. If you’ve read the first five titles, you’re in for a treat with number six!

RUTHLESS.CROSS... .Barbara .Freethy Judge Aurther had been a father figure for him, when he called and asked for a favor Flynn came, having a bad feeling about it. It was a sensitive sticky situation the Judge told him. His date Savannah was a loyal and trusted person and they worked well together. . A scream, murder had happened, and security cameras had been hacked. The exhibit was opening in the grand hall, guests were mingling. Was the killer still among them. A good flowing plot, that gives one an eye view of what’s going on. It is filled with deceit, lies, power, with plenty of twists, to the end. Another story, with great characters of Flynn, Savannah and Callie. Given ARC for my voluntary review and honest opinion.

This FBI series is at the top of my Freethy list of outstanding reads. The newest book is no exception. In this thriller, we have a serial killer, mystery, abandonment issues, insanity and romance. You will need to read this one to figure out the order and “who done it”. Add this to your TBR list, no disappointment here.

Ruthless Cross is an adrenaline fueled story taking place in the art world that will totally engage the reader’s interest as FBI agent Flynn investigates the death of an old friend and former mentor, Federal Judge Arthur Corbyn . The path to resolution involves lots of twists that leave the reader guessing and often gasping as Ms. Freethy cleverly adds another piece to her puzzle. Caught up in the search is Arthur’s widow, Juliette, his stepdaughter, Callie, and a host of museum directors, artists, and thieves. Who is truthful; who is trustworthy? Callie involves herself in the investigation. Is she serious about finding out who killed her mother’s husband or just trying to turn suspicion away from Juliette? This is a book you won’t want to put down until the very end. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. Most highly recommend.

The time has come. The stage has been set. There's danger on the horizon and fear is a sure bet. Count on Freethy to thrill your socks off, while running away with your heart. Ruthless Cross had me holding my breath and biting my nails as I sat on the edge of my seat. Caught in an epic battle of good verses evil, two strangers risk everything to get to the truth. Flynn may come across as the man in charge, but Callie is no shrinking violet. With a smart mouth, a quick mind and an aching heart, this duo of necessity grabs hold of the senses and powers their way under your skin.
