This author CHRISTOPHER Moore, has the same name as the Bestselling absurdist fantasy author who I will call CHRIS Moore. In the past there has been little confusion because Christopher writes non-fiction and his titles sound academic. With this book it appears his publisher has INTENTIONALLY decided to sell more books by choosing a title that sounds like fantasy or humor and a cover that looks like a humorous book. On nearly every OTHER website you see low evals of this book because of readers thinking it was Chris Moore's hilarious comedy rather than Christopher Moore's academic writing. This does a disservice to both authors. Somebody ought to get these guys together and make some ground rules to avoid reader confusion and teach this publisher some ethics. Martin Cruz Smith put Cruz as his middle name to avoid just such confusion from a common name. Maybe these guys could agree to do something similar. My rating is for the title and cover, not the book.

I liked this a lot. I especially like the letters from the WWI soldier as it gives a great insight and puts the words into context. btw the picture above is of a different Christopher Moore...
