Overview
Since leaving Judas Priest, Rob Halford has been wildly unpredictable. He explored the fringes of industrial music with the bands Fight and Two, but now, with the appropriately titled Resurrection, he's reawakened the beast inside -- the creature responsible for some of the most enduring metal mania of all time. There's no room for nostalgic reminiscing here, though: Halford and his bandmates latch onto metal tradition and drag it -- screaming that trademark scream -- into the new millennium. Powered by the guitar tandem of Patrick Lachman and Mike Chlasciak, songs like "Made in Hell" and "Locked and Loaded" wail with a startling ferocity that's matched by Halford's own wild-eyed delivery. That intensity, which seldom dips below a raging boil, is intensified a bit more by Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who tag teams with Halford on the wickedly slashing "The One You Love to Hate." With an abundance of (middle) finger-pointing attitude and a conspicuous lack of downtime, Resurrection will have metalheads everywhere bowing in "we're not worthy" supplication.
