Verna Henderson gets an all paid trip to New York for the Super DollUSA,beauty contest.Only Verna isn't in the contest, she is going to chaperone over her friend Darlene who is also 16 years old.Vernais a little supprised that Darlene's mother picked her to go instead of one of her old friends. That isn't the main event in the story but, its a big part in the story. The big event in the story is that Verna goes to an in town highschool, and meets a group of girls that accepts her for for being a farm girl and not as preppy and girly as the rest of them, they still thinkthat she is cool to hang out with.Verna's family all think she turned from a tomboy to a prep from the time she started hanging out with that clique to thee time she came home from New York. The setting of the story was mainly at school, on the Farm ,and in New York. The time period was throughout the school year and half of summer break. Will Verna need an explanation for Darlene's mom ,or does darlene win the contest, to find out read representing super doll.
