Detective Amos Decker discovers that a mistake he made as a rookie detective may have led to deadly consequences in this compelling Memory Man thriller by #1 New York Times bestselling author David Baldacci.

Decker is visiting his hometown of Burlington, Ohio, when he's approached by a man named Meryl Hawkins. Hawkins is a convicted murderer. In fact, he's the very first killer Decker ever put behind bars. But he's innocent, he claims. Now suffering from terminal cancer, it's his dying wish that Decker clear his name.

It's unthinkable. The case was open and shut, with rock solid forensic evidence. But then Hawkins later turns up dead with a bullet in his head, and even Decker begins to have doubts. Is it possible that he really did get it wrong, all those years ago?

Decker's determined to uncover the truth, no matter the personal cost. But solving a case this cold may be impossible, especially when it becomes clear that someone doesn't want the old case reopened. Someone who is willing to kill to keep the truth buried, and hide a decades-old secret that may have devastating repercussions . . .

Amos Decker the main character, again captivates our imagination as he solves a ever evolving plot of mystery and intrigue using his unique ability to remember everything. Well written and developed.

Amos Decker is one of my favorite fictional characters. In this book, Baldacci softens his personality and makes him even better than he has been. Can hardly wait for the next one.

I loved all five books and read them in record time! I would like to see Amos and Alex get together as more than friends but I am sure David isn’t looking for that to happen.

Just completed reading this fifth book in the Amos Decker series. Each one is better than the last. This time Amos has gone home to Burlington,Ohio for Molly’s Birthday. He’s in the cemetery when a person from his past shows up. Meryl Hawkins wants Decker to prove he was innocent of a crime Amos sent him to prison for. It was his first homicide as a detective and he got it wrong. The more he tries to figure it out, the more people start dying. It was amazing to read. David Baldacci is an excellent author that captures your attention from the very beginning. Exceptionally written and definitely fits into what's happening right now. I had a hard time putting it down. Looking forward to whatever he has in store for Amos and Alex in the next book.
