Respect the Legend. Idolize the Prodigy. Celebrate the Champion. But never underestimate the Rebel.

With unmatched suspense and her signature cinematic storytelling, #1 New York Times–bestselling author Marie Lu plunges readers back into the unforgettable world of Legend for a truly grand finale.

Eden Wing has been living in his brother’s shadow for years. Even though he’s a top student at his academy in Ross City, Antarctica, and a brilliant inventor, most people know him only as Daniel Wing’s little brother.

A decade ago, Daniel was known as Day, the boy from the streets who led a revolution that saved the Republic of America. But Day is no longer the same young man who was once a national hero. These days he’d rather hide out from the world and leave his past behind. All that matters to him now is keeping Eden safe—even if that also means giving up June, the great love of Daniel’s life.

As the two brothers struggle to accept who they’ve each become since their time in the Republic, a new danger creeps into the distance that’s grown between them. Eden soon finds himself drawn so far into Ross City’s dark side, even his legendary brother can’t save him. At least not on his own . . .

Legend was the series that got me into voracious reading. I fell in love with Day and his and June’s story. While the last chapter of Champion gave us a glimpse of their future, I looked forward to hearing how their story ended. I eagerly entered this world again and the addition of hearing Eden’s story, grown and learning his own way while living in the shadow of his infamous brother. Day is still a favorite character of mine and I hoped for a bit more development from June and Day as they awkwardly were reintroduced into each other’s lives. Some of my favorite parts of the book are Day or Eden’s memories from the first three books. These books carried intensity I was looking for in Rebel. This book felt more like an homage to the Legend, and that’s ok, and that’s good, anything that allows us back to Day, is good.

This book was received as an ARC from Macmillan Children's Publishing Group - Roaring Brook Press in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own. I absolutely love this series and to read the latest installment, I knew I was in for an exciting novel. Rebel continues with the stories of Daniel and Eden and how Daniel is overcoming his past when he was known as Day, a boy on the streets with a dark past turned National Hero and now working for the top organization in the land. He is now looking out for his brother Eden trying to have him stay out of trouble so now caught up in the moment, Daniel has to find a way from balancing the stress of his job to the stress of keeping his family safe. Every moment was a page turner and the book keeps you invested from beginning to end. A wonderful series filled with excitement. We will consider adding this title to our YFantasy collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
