Demonica is one of the rare series that I have read for years and have not gotten bored with. I read book 1 Pleasure Unbound way back in 2010, and I was Thrilled that Eidolon and three original Seminus brothers are featured in the book quite extensively, especially Wraith. Wraith's storyline is a shocker! Now I will admit I committed my biggest faux pas I didn't read the last two books before Reaper came out. Her Guardian Angel and Cipher. I did feel like I was missing some critical pieces, although the back story was filled in, just not in-depth as I would like. I am going to fix my error and go back and read those. I am kicking myself because I am not sure how I missed them. Ione books should be coming up on my newsletters and next to-read lists. Reaper was brilliantly written, full of twists, turns, and so much action. It was nonstop. I did not want to put it down. I wasn't sure at first where this book was going because Azagoth already got a book when he met Lilliana. But this book was so much bigger than that. I thought it was going to be a Novella because it's done in the 1001 Dark Nights Format, but it's not. It's a full-length novel, that has so many repercussions for the overall Demonica world. My mind is blown. I have so many questions that need answers. But my biggest of all is: if this is the start of wrapping up the series, Larissa's words not mine, what about Raika? Is that a new series? There are so many questions. I am sitting here in total shock and aw of Reaper, wondering what comes next for this world. I loved it, and I can't wait for the next one! So, of course, it is getting 5 Boundless Stars.

Larissa Ione heats things up with Reaper (Demonica Underworld #9). In this story, the Grim Reaper’s (Azagoth) pregnant mate, Lilliana, is kidnapped. When he tries to get her back all hell breaks loose. This paranormal romance is suitable for adult readers. Reaper has become my favorite book in this series. I love that so many of the characters from the previous books played a role in this story. There were numerous twists. The story was creative and exciting throughout. I loved reading Azagoth’s story. My heart went out to him. His history was interesting. The politics was thought provoking. Reaper is well written. Larissa Ione does an amazing job describing the details of this story. I would recommend reading the other books in this series before reading this book. Followers of the Demonica Underworld will not be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

There are books that some readers talk about like they are thrilling of the keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind, while others think that some parts or at least scenes were still a little bit slow. Well, this is not it. I really can't imagine anybody saying that any segment of this story would be drawled out. There are a lot of happenings - good and bad - and action in this book, and not only because it wraps up a whole arc in all series of the Demonica world. We don't have to wait for a long time and read half of the story to get to the point where the so called s**t hits the fan, or, where all hell breaks loose (never has been a more fitting expression). Practically every scene has some kind of significance, there is something going on everytime. That is why it is also a very emotion packed read as well, besides all the action. If you are looking for an emotional roller-coaster, well, don't look further. There is everything - anger, sadness, surprise and shock, spiced with a lot of fun and tension. Just to mention a few. I really wouldn't like to give away anything, so I'm just going to say this - you have to trust Larissa Ione with this one. It is not by chance that she herself asks for this at the start of the book in a note. In my opinion it is a very very very brave and ballsy venture from her that she let this story go in this form. You seriously have to respect her for that. I mean, yes, there are a lot of really dark and gruesome scenes, but those are in other books, too. And even in this some exact deeds are left to the reader's imagination. But some things that happen to some beloved characters... Those of us who followed all series in this world might even want to put the book down at some points, mainly one, but be sure to pick it up again and read it all - you won't regret it, I promise. On a lighter note, I have to mention that I was so glad to see almost every character from the aforementioned series - Demonica, Demonica Underworld and Lords of Deliverance. We got at least smaller glimpses into their lives, and some of them even got rather long parts, or own scenes. For me it is always good to meet previous couples. In this, Reaper seemed also like a mix of the two main series, and I loved how in the latest books generally, the characters seemed to mix as well, more and more. They became friends and family to each other, that is why we can talk about a single world now instead of two, or just a series with an almost independent spin-off. I always hoped for another story, be that a novel or just another novella, about Azagoth, and I really got what I expected - their relationship with Lilliana went through rough times, but came out stronger. You can pactically feel what they do for each other, and it is believable and swoon-worthy. All this while the center and majority of this story wasn't really about the romance. So if I had to say a negative thing about the book, it could only be a lack of more romantic scenes between the main couple. But considering the events that happen very soon at the start of the story, and all the twists and turns and to-dos and wrapping up that fulfill all of it, I can't say that could have been a critical point or even a fault. The book turned out exactly as it should, and we can only thank Larissa Ione for that. I can't wait to read about the adventures of the next generation after they grow up! An ARC was generously provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

*I received an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review* Just wow. I have to be honest here. I loved it. LOVED it. Firstly, you absolutely MUST read the author's note at the beginning of the book or you are going to be mad at first and possibly not finish the book. It's THAT important. You really, really need to read that author's note where our beloved author asks us to trust her while reading Reaper. It wasn't long before I figured out why. I cannot tell you why without spoiling most of the story, though! OMG! I don't even know where to start here. The Good The writing was excellent, editing great, or at least I never noticed anything! Characters had depth and were consistent with previous books. This means Shade acted like a jerk when he was upset with his brother, but that's not unusual. Azagoth... Just saying, there isn't anything to dislike about this badass. He's epic. EPIC. The plot was hands down the most nail-biting story that I've read ALL year. The story kept me reading LONG past my bedtime simply because I had to find out that everything was going to be okay. I was SERIOUSLY upset and pissed about the events at the beginning half of the book. This is only a good thing because a good story will make you FEEL. The end of the book. Phew! I was so relieved. It kept me at the edge of my seat I'm really glad I decided to read the author's note, though. Which brings us to... The Bad I was SERIOUSLY upset and pissed. I can't tell you more without spoiling it. I spent half the book wanting to throw my Kindle. That said, the author's note made me finish. I'm definitely happy I did! It's worth mentioning twice, that I was SERIOUSLY UPSET! This is the last Demonica book, I think! I was missing the romance, honestly. This book felt more urban fantasy than paranormal romance. That's not a bad thing, exactly. I love me some urban fantasy, especially when it includes romance. Urban fantasy like that is like a paranormal romance series with only one couple, so it is all drawn out and awesomesauce. Betrayal and heartbreak. Some things are uber sad in this book, with death and such. And when it is found who the betrayer is? I was upset then too! My Crazy Thoughts Without Spoilers I honestly don't know how to summarize this without giving anything away. I really, really don't. But I'll give it a shot. This book requires a leap of faith from fans to finish and you definitely will want to commit authorcide at one point or another until you get to the end. You will not be disappointed at the way the author ended this book and this amazing series. Without giving too much away, Reaper is ending one fantastic series and leading the way into another fantastic sounding series, I think. A series that might be more urban fantasy than paranormal romance, maybe? So Reaper is the end of one of my favorite series. I feel a reread coming on soon because I miss the Sem brothers (and sister) and it has been a while for me. I AM looking forward to the next project from this author that seems exciting from the ending of this book, though! The ONLY reason I didn't rate this book 5 stars is because it was lacking the romantic feels for me. Azagoth and his lovely wife spent the entire book apart, nearly, and in peril, so it was all action and little in the way of sweetness that I was craving! But if the author was trying to make her fans insane with emotional upheaval, then she definitely succeede
