Overview

Ruby Ashworth is a damsel in some serious distress.
I'm no prince charming.

Everybody's life hangs on a thread, including Ruby's.
All it took to topple her from wealth and riches was a short series of catastrophes.

She's off her high horse now.

Enter me.

I can make all her problems disappear with a snap of my fingers.
Of course, the tradeoff is that she'll have to watch me cart off her family's priceless belongings and sell them to the highest bidder.

Then she'll need to repay me.

I want her on her knees.

That's the only payment I'll accept.

And time is running out for this princess to pay her dues.

This was an okay read for me. I love this author's writing style, and I thought that eventually Ruby and Levi were good together. My main issue with this story is Ruby. She came across as completely selfish, and I couldn't stand her for very long. I understand that changes are hard, and I felt sorry for her the first couple of times that she had to sell things that were "supposed to be hers". After that, it got old fast. I can't imagine feeling like that about "stuff" knowing that my parents and brother needed the money that those things could bring, and technically they aren't hers, they're her parents! She hated Levi for doing the job she hired him to do, and treated him crappy. She grew up eventually, and I thought she was a decent person in the last several chapters. Although this one wasn't my favorite, it seems like it might just be me, so don't hesitate to give it a try. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

4.5 stars Whilst I'm not generally a fan of billionaire romances (I prefer my heroes to be realistic) I have to acknowledge that Amelia Wilde writes a very good story that outweighs my normal preference. Her characters are finely crafted, her stories have a good mix of steam, angst, action/adventure and love. Levi is an arrogant and self-absorbed ass, but as he gets to know Ruby he realises his imperfections and gradually becomes a better man. Ruby is in a very difficult situation that she faces bravely and with dignity. However she also allows things to be more important than people. The chemistry between Levi and Ruby is off the charts with the sexual tension rising until the inevitable happens (I loved Levi's dominant streak as much as Ruby did!). However the course of true love doesn't run smoothly and this wonderful couple have quite a few hurdles to negotiate on their path to happiness. If you're looking for a well written, fun, steamy but not too heavy read this fits the bill perfectly.
