This is pretty typical Johanna Lindsey--not great literature but a fun, well-paced story. I enjoyed it as I really like Christmas romances. The blend of past and "present" was also interesting. It is part of a series but I do not recall reading any of the other books and that did not detract from this story.

Part of a series about the very large Malory family. Tells the story of the grandparents of the 4 Malory brothers. Interesting family dynamic.

This book was wonderful bringing surprise and intrigue. It brought out personalities of some of the Malory clan that were only touched on before. I don't suggest reading this book if you haven't read the others. You want to read them all in order to get the whole picture of this outrageous family, besides you will really enjoy each of them. Everyone I know who has read the series, loves them and has a different favorite (depending on their ideal sexy male character). Everytime a new Malory novel comes out, I have to read all the others before the new one to really get into the magic of the Malorys.

The Present is an uplifting story full of fun and laughter. James and Anthony butt heads throughout the entire story, and other things are going on. Jmaes and Georgina are having a fight, Jason Malory, family head, cannot get his mistress and mother of his son Derek to marry him. And in the midst of this, a mysterious gift arrives that will change the life of every Malory in one way or another. The Present is shaped like a box, or is it a book? A journal? Is it about the so-called Gypsy grandmother, Anastasia Stephanoff Malory and her meeting and love for the Second Marquis of Haverston, Christopher Malory? All these questions will be answered and the greatest gift any of the Malory's could have expected is showered on them in the spirit of love and giving. All the Malory's are back, and ready for more. The men are here to butt heads, their strong and sassy wives are here to show they can handle their men! Way to go on this story, and write one for Jeremy! All the Malory's are back, like Regina and Nicholas, Anthony and Roslynn, James and Georgina, Warren and Amy, Derek and Kelsey, and all the other Malory's and the Anderson family. Read this, it will make you laugh, cry and wonder at the love shown.

The Present is the best book I have ever read by Johanna Lindsey. The only problem I have with her is that you can barely find any of the Malory novels in the stores.

This is a wonderful book and gives a simple explanation as to why exactly the Malory's are what they are. It gives a glimpse into the past and it has an effect on the future. Excellent book- truly a Johanna Lindsey novel.

This book is actually meant to give you a little history behind the Malory's. I loved it. I got the best of both worlds: A sweet romance from the past and present and the chemistry of this loving family.

Family coming together for the holiday season only to discover that while some are happy and content in their relationships, others of the Malory family still have some things to work out. Having all of the nieces, nephews and brothers around was good for Jason (the eldest of the Malory brothers), if only he could convince the woman he has loved for such a long time to finally marry him. With the arrival of the family, they also noticed of a present on the table that temps the whole family until one night, most of them congregate with the sole purpose of discovering what the present is, who it is for and who left it there. Opening it, they discovered a journal that is an accounting of how their great grandparents met, fell in love and married. The present may be just a good book to some of them, but for others it could change the way they look at their own lives. Book 6 ¿.. Yes, I read out of order and now remember why I don¿t like doing that. There are a lot of characters, and if I had read the previous 5 books I would have known them all I am sure. Even with the struggles to keep each of them straight from the other, I found that this was a very fun and interesting way of recounting a love from a previous generation. I did enjoy the little bit about the family gathering, the little disputes between siblings and the teasing of the In-Laws, but the story of the Gypsies and the good luck charms, while obvious, was still a good story. I am deffinalty interseted in reading more of this family, but I think the next one will be book 1 (Love Only Once).

Okay, I'm cheating here, and I don't like them all equally, but I do love the Mallory's. They're all funny. I especially liked "Love Only Once" (the first book), "Gentle Rogue" (my favorite), and "The Magic of You" (where the heroine chases the hero shamelessly).

Overall, lacks in any real romantic tension. More a dull book, than a bad one. And the logic used in the ending is seriously flawed.

Enjoyed!!

The gypsy story would have been fine but.....derek didnt know who his mother was until 6year years ago? Also the sentences were so long that on occasion i had to keep backtracking to get what they meant. To be precise the extra long sentences made it rther boring...would not have finished it if i hadnt paid for it. I did however enjoy JL's other malory novels though.
