About the Author
Archibald Philip Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery (1847–1929) served as British Prime Minister from 1894 to 1895. After his resignation he fought "for freedom as against bureaucracy. . . against democratic tyranny. . . against class legislation, and … against Socialism." An accomplished historian, he was the author of several biographies, including Napoleon: The Last Phase and Chatham.
