I absolutely loved Prince Jarek, he turned out to be the complete opposite of what I thought he would be like, I thought he would be even more arrogant than his brothers and not such a romantic! He embraced his feelings right away, unlike his brothers. He fell in love with the petite Mei and accepted it and told her so, no beating around the bush for this Prince. No frustration there! Mei is a Princess, that has always dreamed of being as free as the wind and takes the opportunity when she sees the pirates kidnapping 2 girls from her planet, little does she know that she is about to embark on the journey of her life, literally. She is enthralled by the beauty of Jarek, she has never seen such a specimen of man. Mei is not a girl to keep her desires pent up much to the pleasure of Jarek.. He has never met a woman who can match him in his passion. Finding their mates has been quite turbulent, except for Jarek, but now all the Lords of the Var are happily mated and are parents.. I have so enjoyed reading this series. I simply am in love with them and I look forward to reading all about their adventures. My hats off to you Ms. Pillow! I was given this book in exchange for an honest review

Prince Jarek was a intriguing character and we didn't get to know him as much until this book but i enjoyed what i learned and how he is with the crew even when they are getting in trouble.Princess Zhang Mei i wasn't sure i was going to like her but she ended up being a lovable character and fits Jarek well plus there interactions are interesting.

This is the fifth and final book in the Lords of Var series. This book is a hilarious stroy about how Prince Jarek mistakenly kidnaps Princess Zhang Mei and the struggle that ensues. Mei is not very happy. She was just told by the spirit of her great-grandmother, Zhang Ana, that she is with child. How can that be when she has no one at this time? Her great-grandmother tells her the next prince that is not of the Zhang bloodline she has crossed will be the husband and father. Her entire family automatically thinks that she will be marrying Prince Song Lok who is the prince of the other ruling dynasty on the planet of Lintian. She and her brother, Haun, travel to visit the Singhai Territory which is ruled by the Song dynasty. She is completely bored and frustrated since she sees Lok as a snob and cannot escape their company fast enough. Jarek is the one prince who would rather travel the stars than stay on planet with the rest of his brothers. He is the captain of a ship with a motley group for a crew. One of Jarek's crew members has been kidnapped and taken to the Singhai Territory on Lintian. Since Jarek is not one to leave a man behind, he and his crew search the city to find any clue as to where Rick could have been taken to. While searching, Lucien's comment about one of the "tempting pieces of Lintianese culture" has Jarek having to see what he is talking about. His heart speeds up and he can't look away from her. She is so beautiful to him. Her submissive behavior makes him believe the man with her is her master. Watching her gives him an idea of how he can get into the Palace to see if they can get a clue as to where Rick has been taken. They decide to have Lucien and Viktor dress up as women. Mei and Haun just arrive at their ship when they see two women running for their lives out of the Song palace followed closely by a group of five men and Song guards. Haun believes the women are the Emperor's pu ren and he must assist in getting it back. Mei hates being forced onto the ship since she wants to help. She jumps into the fight to free the women from the men she believes are pirates. Mei jumps over Haun to start attacking Jarek. Jarek takes it as she is trying to escape her master instead of her trying to assist in freeing the women. He and the crew run with her to their ship so they can get off planet as quickly as possible. The trouble is just about to begin for Jarek now that he has Mei on his ship. Mei and Jarek's courtship is anything but typical. She decides that since she will be married soon that she will have an affair with Jarek and it will be her secret. Once she realizes who the women really are and why they were in the Song Palace, she is willing to help them find Rick. Whenever she gets upset with Jarek, she hide from him by climbing into the ceiling where she finds the most interesting items. This was such a fun book to read. I loved how Mei and Jarek are able to overcome so much and find they are destined to be together. Mei is such a strong woman that doesn't take any crap from Jarek. I was very sad to see the series end...but this book has two spin-off series, Zhang Dynasty and Space Lords. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

The Pirate Prince is the fifth book in the Lords Of The Var Series by Michelle Pillow. I really love the Var cat shifter books, I find them as wonderful if not more sexy, hunky than the Draig (Dragon Lords) especially since they are discovering that their dads preaching of having a harem instead of a lifemate was a bad idea. This book was a bit differentand interesting in settings as it takes place in outer space and not on the Var's planet. Jarek is Reid's twin but unlike the other Var Princes he dreams of traveling the galaxies and exploring new worlds. Jarek has become a space pirate. In addition he has inherited the funny quirky crew that belonged to Sam, the captain of her own ship before becoming life mated to his brother Falke. This is an entertaining, really hilarious group of misfits who bring a lot of humor and fun to the book. Towards the end of the story we also get the set up for what will be their stories as the series branches out. While trying to rescue one of his crew, Rick, who has been kidnapped, Jarek finds himself on a planet much akin to our China. There are dynasties, Royal families and future telling ghosts of ancestors. Jarek and the Princes Mei's paths cross as part of the adventure of this story, she ends up on his space craft .Despite being promised to the Prince of the Song Dynasty Mei and Jarek can not help but fall in love. Mei who also wishes to be out exploring the galaxies feels this Israel chance of a last adventure. This was a fun quick read. I did not find Mei's character to be as awesome was the other amazing heroines in the series, could not begin to even compare her to Rory, Sam or Lyssa. Still I would highly recommend the book it is still a great adventure filled with excitement and romance. It is a good last book in this awesome series, and leads the way for the next series to come.

Read them all. Although the storyline was not as intriguing as the other books, the characters are lovable and this was a nice ending about the Royal family's adventures. So glad the author is going to go another round with stories about the crew members. They were a fun lot throughout this series. Definitely will keep my eyes tuned and look forward to reading about them!
