In this Brooklyn Bruisers romance, a hockey goalie has to trust his instincts, even when taking a shot to the heart…

Mike Beacon is a champion at defending the net, but off the ice, he’s not so lucky. A widower and a single father, he’s never forgotten Lauren Williams, the ex who gave him the best year of his life. When Lauren reappears in the Bruisers' office during the play-offs, Beacon sees his chance to make things right.

Lauren hates that she’s forced to travel with the team she used to work for and the man who broke her heart. There’s still undeniable sexual tension running between her and Mike, but she won’t go down that road again. She’s focused on her plans for the future—she doesn’t need a man to make her dreams of motherhood come true.

Lauren plays her best defensive game, but she’s no match for the dark-eyed goalie. When the field of play moves to Florida, things heat up on the beach.

One of Mike’s biggest fans doesn’t approve—his teenage daughter. But a true competitor knows not to waste the perfect shot at love.

Really enjoyed Mike and Laurens story... A second chance at love... While Mike was waiting for his divorce and Lauren and he were having a super love affair complete with plans for the future, Mike's wife , who cheated on him, discovers that she has terminal cancer... Mike ends things badly with Lauren to go home and be there for his daughter Elsa who is a pre-teen... After Shelly dies, Mike waits two years to approach Lauren and guess what, she wants nothing to do with him... Oh, or maybe she does... Elsa has always believed that Lauren was "the other woman", not knowing of her mother's affair... How this one unwinds is a story worth reading and I enjoyed the good times and bad... If any complaint I wish the ending had gone on a bit further but overall an enjoyable realistic read...

This is book # 3, in the Brooklyn Bruisers series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this great series in order. Lauren loves her job. Today, she hates her job. She has to come in contact with her past and the only man she has ever loved. There might not be enough to drink in the world. Mike knows he messed up big time. Every single time he and Lauren are in the same room together the old pain is back. He wants to help her heal, but he wants her to himself. This story tore me apart. I felt all the emotions. These characters are already so real to me Great addition to the series.

This review was written by Marie for a guest review post on Ever After Book Reviews blog: 4.5 Stars Yep. Sarina Bowen makes every woman’s fantasy come true with yet another hockey themed hero. *sigh* *pause for a moment of appreciation* Okay, now that that’s done… Let’s begin with Mike, the hottie hockey hero. He is exactly the type of guy I’d expect from a hockey player. He’s a little rough around the edges when it comes to women, but deep down, he’s a good guy, with a big heart, who loves his daughter. *swoon* Clearly, I enjoyed Mike ;) Which brings me to Lauren. The ONLY woman that he’s ever truly loved (aside from his daughter). She’s spicy. She’s exactly the kind of woman that can handle and tame a man like Mike. But so many years ago, he broke her heart. Of course, Ms. Bowen isn’t going to keep them apart for too much of the story… but while they are apart, the sexual tension is THICK. And it shows through SO well. Actually, it was done so well, that I laughed several times because of the anticipation I had built up, waiting for them to finally move beyond the past and give in to their desire for one another. And when they finally did? Oh my. This is a typical contemporary romance, but you know what? It was fun. It was exactly the kind of book that lightens the mood and makes you feel good when it’s over. It’s exactly the kind of book every romance lover can love and appreciate. ***I voluntarily read a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own***

Pipe Dreams was a book I almost didn't finish, it almost landed in my DNF pile. I can't believe it. A Sarina Bowen book. But I just could not for the life of me get past the whole reason for the new relationship, or how Mike just went about going into it, I didn't like him as a husband, I didn't like him as a father, I didn't like him at all. Mike was one of those characters that constantly put me off everything he did and why he was doing it. I just couldn't get past it. Lauren deserved a better partner out of the deal, she was a decent chick but I just didn't think that she and Mike were a good fit.

Just as with all of Sarina Bowen's books this book I felt that this story is a little deeper than your average romance. She tends to explore different aspects of life when telling her love stories and you're left with an added life lesson in addition to your happily ever after. Mike and Lauren's story was a little more emotionally difficult for me to read personally than the previous books in this series but I think that just made me love them more. I give Pipe Dreams 5 out of 5 Krissy's Stars! I CAN NOT WAIT to read Nate and Becca's story in the next book! ;) Xo-K *I was generously given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

PIPE DREAMS is the third installment in Sarina Bowen’s contemporary, adult BROOKLYN BRUISERS erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of the Brooklyn Bruisers professional hockey team. This is Bruisers’ goalie Mike Beacon, and the team’s temporary office manager Lauren Williams second chance story line. PIPE DREAMS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Lauren and Mike) PIPE DREAMS focuses on the rekindling romance between Brooklyn Bruisers’ goalie and single father Mike Beacon, and office manager Lauren Williams, and the Bruisers run for the Stanley Cup. With the office manager Rebecca Rowley on sick leave, team owner Nate Kattenberger brought his former office manager, and current corporate employee Lauren Williams to fill in for the remainder of the season knowing Lauren’s history with team goalie Mike Beacon was icy and cool. Two years earlier Lauren and Mike were lovers; making plans for something more permanent when demons from the past forced Mike to walk away from the woman he loved. Fast forward to present day and Mike Beacon wants a second chance with Lauren Williams-a woman struggling with her attraction to the man that broke her heart. What ensues is the rekindling love between two people whose relationship was destroyed by secrets, miscommunication and Mike’s overwhelming need to care for someone from his past. The relationship between Mike and Lauren is one of second chances. Lauren’s need to run from the man that she loves finds our hero begging for another chance to prove he is worthy of Lauren’s love. Lauren’s struggles with a broken heart that has to be mended; her trust in Mike Beacon is tempered when the truth is revealed. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive. Most of the previous story line couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles including team owner Nate Kattenberger, and the woman he secretly loves Rebecca Rowley. I am hoping for Nate and Becca’s story line next. We are also introduced to Mike’s teenage daughter Elsa who struggles with the loss of her mother, and her father’s relationship with a woman she blames for her parent’s marriage demise. The world building follows the Brooklyn Bruisers’ as they make a run for the Stanley Cup; a championship season that takes the team to the final round. PIPE DREAMS is a story of second chances, forgiveness, falling in love and moving on from the past. There are moments of heartbreak, betrayal, romance and love. The conflict between our leading couple is easily resolved with little to no drama or anxious moments. The premise is engaging and realistic; the romance is sexy, seductive and spicy; the characters are spirited and passionate. PIPE DREAMS is a heartwarming and moving story about family, love, and second chances.

Even though this is part of a series, this book can be read as a stand-alone. I haven’t read the other two books in this series and I didn’t miss a beat. I love sports romance and second chance romance so this was right in my wheelhouse! What a devastatingly beautiful love story this was. Mike and Lauren had known each other for years, considered each other friends, until Mike was going through his divorce. Then he pursued Lauren. They were soul mates and each other’s one true love. Until Mike started pulling away. Then one evening he ended it with Lauren, telling her he was moving back with his wife and daughter. All he said was that they needed him and he was sorry. Lauren tried for weeks to get Mike to give her more answers, but he wouldn’t take her calls. She finally gave up. Brokenhearted she left the organization that she loved, working for the Bruisers and took a position with another part of the company that owned the team. Until her boss told her she had to go back and work as the office manager again for the Bruisers temporarily. That’s the last thing she wanted to do was go back and see Mike again. All the humiliation and pain of seeing him again. Mike’s wife died a year ago, ovarian cancer. He moved home to help take care of their pre-teen daughter. Mike is a great guy, he still loves Lauren, he never stopped, but he messed things up so badly with her. He handled it all wrong and he knew she wouldn’t want to try to have a relationship with him again. She had lost her trust not only in him, but with all men. This is all about second chances and forgiveness. Mike and Lauren had a once in a lifetime kind of love that couldn’t be ignored and Mike wouldn’t let Lauren forget that. There was so much time they had to make up for and hurdles to get over. It was a road they had to go down and not ignore. There was some push and pull between the characters, but the pain and love between these two was evident. The story was so well written and all the feels came through. I really enjoyed this second chance hockey romance and I know you will too! I can’t wait for more!

This is one of those books where everything was just perfect to me. All of it! Mike and Lauren's history, them reconnecting, and the build to it all. Hockey. Teenage drama. Tension and angst. I loved it all. The first two books were awesome but I have to say, this is my FAVORITE book in the series so far!!! Mike and Lauren had so many ups and downs in their relationship and I loved the build in learning the why… and that why was killer! I loved Mike, he was just so sweet and caring as he and Lauren reconnect, there was no way not to love him. Lauren was so strong and I loved how determined she was to do things on her own, even though some of those things legitimately stressed me out. She could be really stubborn and hold herself back to protect herself and I totally got why. I loved them reconnecting and Lauren letting her guard down and really open up. I also really enjoyed Lauren connecting with Ari and Georgia because she's been pretty ice-like in the past two books. I thought they had a lot of fun scenes together that were highly entertaining. I adored the fact that there was more Nate and Becca included as well, that's just such a fun, side story and I would love to see these two get their own book. Honestly, everything about this is made me ridiculously happy. It had a somewhat light feel with a great deal of emotion mixed in. I got teary eyed several times. I loved the writing, it really drew me in. I thought there was excellent character development also. I was just sold from the very beginning. I love how the story was laid out and the build to the amazing HEA. This was just such a well thought out story and I couldn't put it down. I loved all the chemistry, emotion, and animosity between Mike and Lauren. I loved the 13 year old girl drama from Mike's daughter. I loved the hockey aspect and the intensity of the games. Everything drew me in. The story is excellent, I couldn’t seem to stop reading. It's a well rounded story filled with tension, heat, and humor. There were just so many wonderful moments. My head and emotions were all over the place (in a good way!). Loved every single second!!! Complimentary copy received for honest review.

Sarina Bowen scores a hat trick with the third book from the Brooklyn Bruisers series, PIPE DREAMS. I love this series. PIPE DREAMS is goalie, Mike Beacon’s and Lauren Williams’ story. This contemporary sports romance takes place in New York. It is suitable for adult audiences. The beginning of the novel overlaps with the previous book. Lauren is with her boss/team owner, Nate Kattenberger, in his private box watching the Bruisers in the play-offs. I loved hearing this story from her point of view. In the previous stories, Lauren comes off as cold. We find out why. It is totally understandable and nothing like her actual personality. Sarina Bowen does a fabulous job with her character development. Lauren is a strong and astonishing heroine. She is hard working and determined. Her heart was broken by Mike, and she is uncomfortable when being forced to work for the team. Mike is an amazing guy and dad. He is caring, persistent, and protective. He could have handled his break-up with Lauren better, but under the circumstances, why he did it was admirable. I love that these two get a second chance. They clearly never got over one another. They are good together. He is a spontaneous action kind of guy to her analytical planning. The plot was realistic and believable. I like how the story flashed back and forth in time. I like that Lauren gets to know the other females in the series better. There are many interesting things that happen in this story that keep it exciting. This is one of those books that is hard to put down. I read it in one day. Nate seems to like to get involved with his staff and players’ personal lives. I love that Lauren, doesn’t let Nate intimidate her and does the same to him. I’m really looking forward to Becca’s and Nate’s story in the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
