Overview

Expanding students’ word power for higher SAT scores has just become more fun—and more effective! This brand new book uses cartoon-style illustrations that present visual puns, augmented with verbal mnemonics and sample sentences. All examples are designed to help students learn words and meanings, then retain them in their memories when the time comes to take that important college entrance exam. A total of 300 words frequently encountered on the SAT I are presented, each with its own illustration, definition, and set of memory aids. A review is presented at the end of every 12-word group with an amusing written passage to reinforce the words and meanings within a narrative context.

I have always struggled with vocabulary, and this really affected my test scores like the SSAT, PSAT, etc. I was never able to learn vocab just by looking at a list (the kind of lists that are in most prep books) so I was skeptical about getting this book. All I can say is, WOW!!! I learned 24 words in about 20 minutes, and when my mom quizzed me a week later I still remembered them! I guess this makes sense since I'm a visual learner, but even if you're not, I'd recommend this book anyways!! Finally, I can learn SAT vocab and actually remember it!!

Truely unexpected. When i was studing the book, it really didn't feel like the idea of super-mneomics was really working, but after i finished the book and went on to another, i wasn't able learn so easily. And now i think back to the words, i really see the picture in my mind. Recommend to everyone.

At first, I thought that the cartoons were really pointless. But they give clear definations of each word, and the section reviews are excellent. I recommend making flash cards to go along with this book.
