About the Author

Carolyn is a middle school teacher and loves to spend time with her eleven-year-old son, Bryce. As a child, Carolyn had never lost a closely related loved one. When her son was almost ten years old, his Pa passed away. Carolyn saw Bryce’s extreme sadness and wanted to help him cope but really could not relate personally. They began talking about all the memories Bryce had with his Pa. She realized that by taking those memories and writing a book, it would not only help Bryce, but likely other children in similar situations.

Research shows that children express their grief differently. This typically varies by age. Most younger children are able to connect to books that have similar story lines to that of their own lives. Carolyn wrote this book not only to memorialize her stepfather, but also to help other children find a way to remember their lost loved ones as well.
