Barbra Streisand's 2014 duets album, Partners, features the legendary vocalist performing songs associated with her storied career alongside a handful of handpicked guests. Produced by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Walter Afanasieff, Partners is a duets album in the modern tradition of such similarly inclined releases as Frank Sinatra's Duets, Tony Bennett's Duets: An American Classic, and Paul Anka's Duets. The album also follows up Streisand's 2013 live concert recording Back to Brooklyn. As with that album, Partners works as a retrospective, with Streisand revisiting songs she's recorded on past albums, such as her classic "Evergreen" from the soundtrack to her 1976 remake of A Star Is Born, performed here with Babyface. Also joining Streisand are such luminaries as Michael Bublé for "It Had to Be You," Stevie Wonder for "People," Billy Joel for "New York State of Mind," Andrea Bocelli for "I Still Can See Your Face," and others. John Mayer even brings along his guitar for a bluesy, Count Basie-inspired rendition of "Come Rain or Come Shine." With Edmonds and Afanasieff on board, the tracks on Partners showcase a pleasing balance between Streisand's various stylistic wheelhouses from Broadway standards, to adult contemporary pop, to classical crossover, and even a hint of country (as her duet with Blake Shelton reveals). While certainly a novelty, the digitally created, fan-service duet with the late Elvis Presley (Streisand's original choice of co-star for A Star Is Born) is tastefully and lovingly crafted. Ultimately, Partners works as guided tour down Streisand's memory lane, and with her resonant voice still in supple shape, any excuse to hear her sing is a welcome invitation.

I purchased this cd and WOW! It is really good. I highly recommend it - Streisand sounds relaxed and on target as do all her male "partners".. You will not be disappointed.

Have a new appreciation for Barbra's voice--so powerful.   This CD is wonderful listening as is Barbra's choice of partners.  Where has she been hiding her son's voice?  He is awesome.

I bought this album as soon as it was released, I was curious to know if it would work. After listening almost completely, I couldn't believe my ears. All the partners sounds so good. And... Streisand sounded as I could never imagined. Incredible ! This album is a must for all music lovers. This is quality music.

“There are the 10 greatest singers of all time and THEN there is BARBRA STREISAND”!!! This is one of my favorite quotes from one of Barbra’s previous duet partners, Barry Gibb; and no truer words were ever spoken….. Barbra Streisand’s latest CD, “PARTNERS” is a complete MASTERPIECE! I have been TOTALLY ADDICTED to this INCREDIBLE CD since the minute I got it on the day it was released ….and it wasn’t easy….. they are FLYING off of the shelves!!!! I’m sure that everyone who was lucky enough to get a copy will agree when I say that I cannot RAVE enough about this INCREDIBLE GEM!!! It is so INGENIOUS how Barbra and her BRILLIANT team, re-invented many of her signature songs with such magnificent musicianship. When you combine that, with Barbra’s voice; G-d’s GREATEST GIFT to mankind, and all of her hand-picked-best-in-the-business, wonderful “partners”, the result is MIND BLOWING! Each and every track will blow you away!!! In addition to all of that, a new song, “I Still Can See Your Face” with Andrea Bocelli is hands-down one of THE most BEAUTIFUL songs I have ever, EVER heard in my LIFE. Listen to the gorgeous, heart-wrenching lyrics and you can actually SEE this song being played out as if you were watching a movie. I picture it as a sequel to “The Way We Were”….. You will have tears in your eyes as you listen to this, and the blending of their two UNBELIEVABLE voices ….. WOWWW….. it is LITERALLY HEAVEN on EARTH!!!! Another HUGE favorite is “I’d Want it to Be You” with Blake Shelton. When I told you I was ADDICTED, I wasn’t kidding! I LITERALLY play this song over and over and OVER again and cannot get enough! It’s sweet and playful with wonderful lyrics, and the song just gets inside your head and stays there ALL DAY and NIGHT! Barbra and Blake are ADORABLE together!!!! Now for the greatest gift of all….,“ How Deep is the Ocean”, Barbra’s duet with her INCREDIBLY talented son, Jason Gould! Jason recently shocked not only all of Barbra’s hard-core fans during her recent concert tour, but Barbra herself! He has kept his PHENOMENAL voice to himself up until recently, and what a voice it is!!!!! It is like he has an entire orchestra in his throat! Hearing Barbra and Jason sing together was one of the MAJOR surprise highlights of her tour, and having this song on her album is a total G-D-send!!! It is the FIRST song I play every morning! I hope Jason continues to WOW us with MORE!!!!!! SOOOOO….. what are you waiting for??? Download this INCREDIBLE album NOW and RUN to get your hard copy too!!! (if you’re lucky enough to find one!) Whatever you do, DO NOT MISS the chance to have this MASTERPIECE in you music collection!
