Everyone knows the girl is off limits. But it's so good to be bad.

There's this girl...

Heidi and I have been trading hungry looks all year, and everything she does makes me smile. But I don't do girlfriends, and I certainly can't get involved with the league commissioner's daughter. I need shots on goal, not a hookup and a widely misunderstood paparazzi photo.

Can I resist her, though? The way she teases me should be a game penalty for interference with my libido.

There's this guy...

Jason wants me, but he won't admit it. That man looks at me the way a hockey player eyes the lunch buffet after practice--and I love it.

But when victory is finally within my grasp, I blow it and humiliate myself. Even then I can't even avoid him--as the team intern, I'm in constant view of his hard body and cocky smile.

I need another chance. Jason Castro is about to learn the true meaning of an overnight sensation.

The best in the series, this book has everything!

This is the 5th book in the series and is Jason Castro and Heidi ‘s story. I love a good hockey romance and Overnight Sensation is exactly that. Sarina Bowen weaves a story that will draw you in and hook you. Although I have read several books by Sarina Bowen, this is my first book in this particularly series. I had no issues reading as a stand alone, although I will now be going back and reading the previous books in the series as soon as time allows. The attraction between Heidi and Jason is there, but Jason is determined not to get burnt, which means keeping Heidi at a distance, no matter how much he wants her. After all her father is an NHL commissioner and he is a NHL player. Heidi is a strong, independent and feisty woman woman who is not afraid of hard work and going after what or who she wants. She knows she shouldn’t become involved with Jason but she cannot help herself.; she is drawn to him, like a moth to a flame. Jason is swoon worthy. I loved his relationships with the players and particularly with Silas (I cannot wait for HIS story). He wasn’t afraid to let his vulnerable side show and that just made him even more attractive to me. The characters were engaging and I really enjoyed the banter between them. There is no denying that the chemistry between Jason and Heidi simply sizzles and Overnight Sensation had me smiling, laughing and swooning. A well written story that I recommend you one click, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I'm so glad that Sarina continued this series. I loved Brooklynaire and was afraid that she would end it there. We've seen Castro in the other books, but this book showed the private side and so much more depth. I didn't dislike Heidi previously, but we see so much more in this book and I was totally won over. A great addition to the series, now we need to learn about Silas and what's going on in his head.

Sports Romances are definitely my jam, and it’s the hockey ones that I can’t seem to get enough of, which is why Sarina Bowen’s Brooklyn Bruisers series is perfect for this romance reader. And in Overnight Sensation, Jason Castro’s feeling the pressure on and off the ice due to the upcoming season and a certain commissioner’s daughter who he shares a mutual attraction with despite Jason’s one and done mantra when it comes to the opposite sex. Heidi Pepper may come off as a spoiled princess who is used to getting what she wants as long as she remains daddy’s good little girl and stays on the straight and narrow, but as soon as she makes a major decision without her father’s permission, he attempts to control her every act, leading Heidi to more than live up to her nickname “Hot Pepper” by breaking the rules and doing everything she can to live the life she wants with a certain hockey star despite his best efforts to keep her at an arm’s length. It’s clear that Jason has a very real reason for refusing to give his heart away and keeping things light and easy, but what’s also evident is how much he wants Heidi in his bed and despite himself, in his heart - the one part of his body that’s been as frigid as the ice he plays on for the past 5 years. The push and pull between Jason and Heidi is there from the start of Overnight Sensation; in fact, it’s been brewing for quite some time, and everything comes to a head when they give into their desire and after a series of events bring them even closer, Jason needs to decide if he can let go of the past and stop his fatalistic thoughts when it comes to relationships or if he’ll lose this amazing woman who clearly makes his life and his play so much better. As much as I didn’t like Jason’s hot and cold behavior when it came to Heidi, I couldn’t completely dislike him because he’s actually a good guy; he’s just one who’s taking on blame that is not his to take, but he’s the only one who can sort through the mess in his head. And despite how everyone around Jason and Heidi see their connection and try to provide Jason with the push he needs, if he won’t admit what Heidi means to him or how he feels about her, they’ll never been anything more than friends? roommates? acquaintances? Heidi is definitely a kick butt heroine. I love how she finds her own way in life, proving her naysayers, especially her father, wrong. She’s quirky, bubbly, and genuine, and the fact that she dropped out of college doesn’t prevent her from doing a job she loves and that she kicks butt at…and she is an intelligent and savvy woman who can more than handle herself despite the fact that the men in her life feel the need to constantly protect her and tell her what to do. Sarina Bowen’s Brooklyn Bruisers series continues to bring the heat, the laughs, the swoon, and the excitement on and off the ice, and I can’t wait for more! 4.5 Poison Apples

4.5 STARS In OVERNIGHT SENSATION Sarina Bowen gives us her quirkiest, funniest, feistiest heroine yet. We met Heidi Jo in Brooklynaire as the team's intern. I actually thought she was a little airhead in Nate and Becca's book, but boy was I wrong. Heidi's still interning but after leaving college to her father's dismay, daddy dearest finds all kinds of unpleasant jobs for Heidi. In return she moves out of her daddy's apartment and into Jason Castro's bachelor pad, even more to Dad's dismay. Because Jason Castro is a player. No, he's a PLAYER. Heidi just wants one night, one night to have wild sex and Jason isn't averse to that notion. However, that can't happen. Daddy's also the NHL commissioner and he declares Heidi Jo as off limits. Jason is a Shakespeare or Dickens reciting, field-playing riot who gets an itch when relationships are mentioned, but there is so much more depth that isn't obvious at first. He's a dedicated hockey player, loyal to his friends and devoted to his family, and super dirty in bed. When his past tragedy comes to light you understand a little why he thinks he's not a relationship kind of guy. He didn't anticipate Heidi though. While we find out how awesome she is, so does he. Heidi Jo is an avalanche. She is fine with being bossed around in bed. But outside of it? No way, Jose! She fights and stands her ground. Heidi's a resourceful, fearless, smart, idealistic, and a little spoiled young woman who adapts easily with an easy charm. Her quirky, positive personality is adorable. When she got into it with Jason they had an irresistible chemistry, fabulous, laugh-out-loud banter. OVERNIGHT SENSATION is another winner in this series and I don't mind if Sarina Bowen writes ten more books with hot Brooklyn Bruisers. Next up is Silas who gives us quite a riddle to ponder. I have a theory and I'm hoping to see it confirmed!

Four and a half stars. Sarina Bowen does it again! Jason Castro has pretty much everything he ever wanted, playing for the Brooklyn Bruisers, living the good life, easy women and a great set of mates, sure his family think he is wasting his life playing sport and womanising but they think he should be a doctor or a lawyer. On a team night out he keeps catching the eye of the new tem intern, the delicious Heidi, they've been dancing around each other for weeks but Jason has rules about sleeping with women at work - he's a one-and-done kind of guy which doesn't sit well with working alongside them the next day. Heidi Pepper isn't just an intern, she's also the daughter of the Commissioner of Hockey and 100% off limits. When her night with Jason becomes gossip fodder and her father starts laying down the law Heidi decides to move out of her father's Manhattan penthouse suite and into her own apartment, trouble is her pay is pitiful so she ends up staying with Jason and his roomie Silas. I was on the fence about Heidi to start with, I thought she was a little childish and naive, well she is under twenty-one, but she really grew on me. She's so full of grit and determination and character, she grafts so hard and creates a business out of nothing. When her father starts dictating that Heidi do all the most menial jobs (security, cleaning the toilets, selling hot dogs) rather than the office job she was previously doing she just knuckles down and does it. Poor Jason he tries so hard to do the right thing but everything, friends and family conspire against him and he is forced to live cheek by jowl with the delectable, distracting and clever Miss Pepper. Loved it, devoured it on release day, can't wait for Silas' story.

I love all Sarina Bowen stories and if you are a fan of Kristin Callihan, Jaci Burton or Ilsa Madden Mills you will too. Great dialogue, humor, romance, back story, and sexy times. I She creates a whole world in her series that you want to revisit over and over. Love!

I love reading romance novels that make me think beyond the obvious love story they’re telling. Sarina Bowen is my favorite author because she manages to do this in every book she writes, and also because her writing style is fuid and natural, and also witty and beautiful. Overnight Sensation is more of a comedy than the previous books in the Brooklyn Bruisers series. A little lighter in the angst department, perhaps, but it still has its conflict to resolve and emotional baggage to unload. Jason Castro has a reputation. He’s a player on and off the ice. He doesn’t do repeats, much less relationships, and he’s happy to keep it that way. His whole focus is in being the best hockey player he can be, and prove his worth. But Castro has hidden depths. Obviously. He’s a really nice guy with strong values, and a soft spot for Heidi. He’s famous for quoting Shakespeare and Dickens, and has a quirky sense of humor. The nerd factor is strong in him, too. Heidi Jo Pepper is sheltered, polite to the bone, and a little naive. She sets her sights on Castro, wanting him to take her to the wild side for a night, to show her what real passion feels like. Her father’s controlling ways push her to revel against him, and try to be more independent, and find her own way. She proves to be not only efficient and creative, but also resilient and determined. However, things go wrong rather quickly for Heidi, and Jason feels obligated to help her once again. Their proximity and obvious chemistry prove to be too much for Jason to resist. So when things get out of control, as they always do, they will have to decide what they really want for themselves and from each other, and how to get it. I loved, loved, loved Overnight Sensation. It’s sweet, it’s fun, it’s hilarious. Nobody writes Hockey romance quite like Sarina Bowen. And if there is something that Sarina Bowen excels at, is at writing strong female characters. Heidi is not the exception. She is rather fierce. I fell in love with Jason because he’s a sweetheart who’s been trying for so long to protect himself from hurt, he’s confident and charming, and totally swoon worthy. But in my opinion, Heidi steals the show from start to finish. She’s strong, capable, and hilarious. I love her with my whole heart.

4.5☆ Overnight Sensation was great! It was highly entertaining, making me laugh a lot. I just love all these hockey guys, they're great! Jason is a good guy but has a ghost from his past that keeps haunting him and holding him back. I feel for him, but after a while he did get frustrating by how he was handling everything. He needed a swift kick in the rear. Other than that I loved him as a character, he's a hoot! Heidi is an interesting girl. She can be spoiled at times but she grows to be more than that throughout the book. She becomes a strong, determined girl with a good head on her shoulders. She is also quite entertaining, especially with all the jobs she has to do. I felt bad for her and how her dad treats her, he's a bit of a jerk. Even when things weren't going her way she kept her head held high and exceeded expectations. I enjoyed her and Jason's relationship, the start of it was hilarious! I loved Silas in this book and can't wait for him to get his own book, I think it's about time he got one! I also really enjoyed Bayer and am hoping to see more of him in the future.

I don't think I will ever tire of Sarina Bowen's Brooklyn Bruisers series! I have enjoyed every single book (though I don't think anyone will ever top Nate in my heart *swoon*) and her writing is always sexy, fun, and heartfelt. Though this is book 5 in the series, this slightly forbidden/friends to lovers-ish romance can be enjoyed as a standalone. Characters from the previous books do appear, however, and that is where our hero and heroine initially meet. Oh, Castro. My heart totally went out to him and his broken soul. He was such a cuddly teddy bear under all the bluster and dirty talk. His insecurities and fears made so much sense once his past was revealed and I ached for the 18 year old boy he once was. Heidi came across naive and flighty at first, but she had the greatest character growth and really came into her own through the course of the book. I loved how she faced every new job and challenge and didn't back down. She complemented Castro really well and I loved their banter and chemistry. There is some angst and push and pull as they struggle with their feelings and budding relationship, but I liked that it was resolved almost as quickly as it began. It really let the growth of each character really shine. I did feel like things with Heidi's father wrapped up a little abruptly (considering how hard and critical he was throughout the book), and I would have loved an epilogue a little down the road. Some seeds were planted for sweet goalie Silas, however, and I really hope that we get his book in the future. If that happens, I have a feeling he will give my beloved Nate a run for his money! *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*

I loved this book! I have only been reading Sarina Bowen's work for about a year now but she has quickly become an author that I trust to deliver great romances and she totally delivered with this book. This book is the fifth book in the Brooklyn Bruisers series but it was the first book from the series that I have read and it worked well on its own. Of course, now I am ready to go back and get the other books read since I liked this one so much. This story is all about Heidi and Jason. Heidi, an intern, lets her inhibitions go for one night and wants to hook up with the team's sexy hockey player, Jason. Unfortunately, she has way too much to drink and ends up sleeping it off at his house instead. It wouldn't be a big deal except for the photo of them together that is making the rounds and the fact that Heidi is actually the commissioner's daughter. As the pair spends more and more time with each other, they decide that they just can't stay away from each other. Heidi and Jason were both great characters. Heidi has lived a rather sheltered and spoiled life. She knows this but she also isn't afraid of hard work. I liked how she was willing to do what was needed to get what she wants. It seemed that no matter how terrible the job was she approached it with the best attitude possible. Jason doesn't do relationships and hasn't for a long time. He is more of a one night stand kind of guy but he wants more with Heidi. It was great learning about Jason's past and finding out what he was really thinking. I loved these two together! They just seemed to fit perfectly together. They had fantastic chemistry with each other and there are quite a few sexy moments in the story. I liked the way that he looked out for her and vice versa. They both showed that they were willing to stand up for each other and just be there for support when necessary. It does take Jason some time to completely open up to Heidi about his past but I liked watching them work through everything. I would highly recommend this book to others. This was a great romance with fantastic characters. I loved the fact that there was quite a bit of hockey worked into the story and the side characters were just as great as Jason and Heidi. I ended up reading this entire book in a single day because I literally could not put it down. I cannot wait to read more from this amazing author! I received a digital review copy of this book from the author/publicist.

Sarina Bowen has a super power, which is writing wonderful stories about good characters. This is a new installment of the Brooklyin Bruisers series and it is about Jason Castro and Heidi Jo. They are young but have a been through a lot in their own way and he is dealing with a heartbreak loss that is so sad. But, nevertheless, they deal with their problems with good nature and maturity. This is an incredibly well written story that you will catch your attention and you will not put it down until the end. I just loved this book!

I have to admit that I only read 2 Brooklyn Bruisers books before this one. One was the one right before this one: Brooklynaire - which I loved! And then I obviousely read the amazing True North Series - of which Bountiful had a Bruisers player in it too! ☺ So now here is Heidi and Jason's book. I really love Heidi! With her adorable accent! I tried reading her scenes in an accent - very talent-free I have to admit! ☺ And Castro is just as adorable! Poor guy. So attracted to this off-limits girl! I love his friendship with his room mate Silas. Can't wait to get his book with the pop star!!! And as if Heidi being the daughter of the league's boss was not bad enough - poor Jason also has some sad mysteries in his past that make him think he will never fall in love again. Plus he's not really playing his best hockey at the moment, but he really wants to stay with the team... And poor Heidi? With her idiot daddy! She sooo wants Rebecca's old job working for the team, but her dad wants her to go back to college. Lots and lots of things to overcome until we can ride off into a happily ever after sunset! ══════════════════ Such an adorable story! I'm not the biggest hockey romance fan - that's why I'm so late to join this series! But I really love what I've seen so far! I love the team, the owners, the players, the atmosphere. And of course Heidi and Jason. They so belong together, but it'll be really hard to get to that happy end! But we love every second of their journey! The book was funny, sad, heartbreaking, sweet, hockey-ish, Brooklyn-ish ... and so much more! I'm sad to not have started this series with book #1 - I hope I'll find time to read them all one day! #MegaBusyReadingCalendarBloggerLife ☹ ► OVERNIGHT SENSATION was such an adorable and fun and sweet and heartbreaking Hockey Romance!!! Run to your nearest amazon asap - Heidi & Jason will be sold out in no time!

4 stars — Oh those Brooklyn Bruisers…how I missed them. Jason and Heidi were both so adorable and unique. It was odd reading about a hero who was so guy-y, so unapologetic about being bossy and who loved being in charge, and just…well guy-y. But at the same time Jason was SUPER sweet, kind, thoughtful, and a great friend. And he had such a big heart. Similarly Heidi was an honest-to-goodness spoiled princess in many ways, and she loved stereotypical girly things, like makeup, shoes, designer goodies… But she was also super hard-working, thoughtful, sweet, and intuitive. It was like Ms. Bowen gave us two character stereotypes, and said “aha! But look deeper!” I seriously DUG that. It was one of my favourite aspects of the story. But while I loved that in a surface way, and while I did truly love our characters, I was never super attached to them either…like neither one made my book boy/girl list. And I don’t really know why. It’s not a bad thing, just something indicative of why this is not higher than 4 stars for me. I think I felt like Jason’s personal struggles lacked something…but then again, they didn’t always. I found myself crying for him too. I think I just had a hard time with his turnaround…like it wasn’t unbelievable exactly, but I wanted something more there. On the other hand, I ADORED the way Heidi stepped up to every challenge set before her. She had a bit of a raw deal, but I loved that she met each task with dignity and tenacity. I admire the hell out of her. Jason and Heidi together were da bomb. They had amazing chemistry, and I loved how much fun they could have together, even in the steamy scenes. They made me laugh out loud many times, even as they gave me tummy tingles. I loved that the hockey boys played a somewhat larger role in this story… I loved the support that they gave, and the sense of comradery that oozed off the pages. I am hella intrigued by Silas, and have a few theories of where his story might go, but I keep second guessing myself. As a total aside, speaking from my own NHL hockey attendance experience, I found the whole mascot thing weird. Do they do that in other arenas? Not that it matters, this is fiction…it just startled me and felt unbelievable. What didn’t feel unbelievable was the section about the Ice Girls… I don’t know what the conditions are for the girls in this role in real life, but I’ve seen my own team struggle with appropriate attire (though at least now they’re in pants and long sleeves) and finding a balance. So this review was all over the freaking place. Sometimes I have all these thoughts, and they really just don’t go together. And sometimes I write down my thoughts, but moreso bullet point form, and then when I come back to clean it up I struggle. The gist is that if you love the Brooklyn Bruisers series, you’re going to love this installment. If you love hockey romances, you’re going to love this hockey romance. If you love being surprised and inspired by your main characters, well strap in and enjoy the ride.
