In February 1895 Oscar Wilde was at the height of a brilliant career. Yet in a few short months he would be disgraced, imprisoned and bankrupted.

This document pack recreates by use of original documents held in the Public Record Office and images from the British National Portrait Gallery the momentous events of the three trials which resulted in Wilde's sentence to two years' hard labor, and graphically portrays the mental and physical anguish of his imprisonment.

It includes the famous calling card which led to Wilde's downfall, as well as letters depositions and petitions which introduce the three main protagonists, Lord Alfred Douglas, the Marquess of Queensbury and Constance Wilde, as the drama unfolds to its almost inevitable conclusion.
