Overview

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a classic tale about the risks of passion!

Maggie Fitzgerald has retreated from her former fast-paced life, seeking solitude to heal her broken heart. But her new landscaper, Cliff Delaney, is gruff and abrupt—and somehow irresistible. And when a body is found too close to home, shattering her peace entirely, Maggie is forced into the arms of the very man she finds so aggravating. The trouble is, Cliff is the prime suspect in the investigation. Has Maggie fallen for a good man with a rough exterior…or a coldhearted killer?

I love Nora books and always looking for a new one. BUT.... I usually don't fall for this but it was a PRE ORDER! So I didn't go look and see if it was a re issue. Kind of sneaky that if you buy a nook book there is no return or a stop order even if you haven't gotten it yet.

I found out the hard way that you can preorder a book even if the same title, by the same author already is purchased on you nook! I was preordering a title because I, too, thought that it was a new book. After rereading the description I thought it sounded really familiar. I finally found it in my library. You would think they would have a way to stop this!!!

I do not think it is fair to give 1 star reviews when it has nothing to do with the actual book. I rely on the reviews to gauge if a book is genuinely good or not. This makes it very difficult.

As a stand-alone mystery this book would fall short as the story is somewhat predictable, and avid mystery readers will figure out the villain about half way through the book. But when you throw in the intrigue and romance, it rounds out to a very pleasurable book. If you're looking for an action packed mystery with lots of guessing as to the murderer, this is not the book for you. If you're looking for a book with a little bit of everything and a pleasant way to spend a few hours, you should get this one! Famous songwriter, Maggie Fitzgerald, buys a vacant house in a tiny town in Maryland, as far from the public eye as possible. Maggie's husband had died under mysterious circumstances before she purchased the house and Maggie was tired of always being in the public eye. She was tired of people wondering about her husband's death. She was tired of always being watched. The chemistry between Maggie & Cliff really works well. Good story line, enjoyable read. Wanted story to last longer. This author is one of my favorites, so was an easy book for me to choose as all of her books are good. Try it. It's a good read.

I generally love nora roberts books. Unfourtunately, this one was very boring and predictable. Not one of her best.

Not a bad book but be sure you haven't read it years ago.

Yes this is a reprint. If people would pay attention to the fact the cover DOES NOT have NR in a CIRCLE that designates a new book. Then they are reprints.

Why does the publishers date show 2018 when the book was written in 1985?

1985 Nora Roberts. More "filler" with lengthy descriptions than story. As prior reviewer said this had some good moments and clues as to the good storyteller Nora Roberts has become!

NIGHTSHADE. Enjoyable romantic thriller where lone PI teams up with Police Lieutentant to search for a missing girl. I would have liked to known more about Colt's background as it touched briefly on his close family, air force, ranch etc. whereas Althea's past was more to the fore.NIGHTSMOKE.Another good one from Nora Roberts. The characters were attractive and the story was a little to neatly wrapped up for my liking. Nemesis, a ghostly shadow that haunted the streets and helped the police in catching the culprit was not properly explained enough. I just didn't get that, at all.

It was difficult to become attached to the main male character and the ending was rushed. Nor one of her better books.
