He knew where in the shadows to look for a GhostWalker, but even with that knowledge, it took several long minutes of trying to pierce the darkness to spot her. She moved with stealth, flitting from shadow to shadow, bush to tree, avoiding the spill of light pouring from the overhead lamps. She stayed small, arms and hands in close to the body, clothes tight to avoid the whisper of sound. She wore a skullcap to keep any hair from being left behind at the scene. She knew what she was doing as she surveyed the tall wall surrounding the estate.

As she moved along the base of the north-facing wall, a dog roared a challenge. She froze, turning her head toward the sound. Abruptly the barking turned to a soft, eager whine. Raoul smiled. Definitely a GhostWalker. He stayed back, careful not to stare at her, not wanting her instincts to detect his presence. He found himself utterly fascinated by her.

The woman stared up at the wall, glanced left and right and moved back a few feet. To be safe he sank low, his movements slow so he wouldn't draw her gaze. His breath exploded out of his lungs as she leapt over the wall. There was no doubt left in his mind. She had to be a GhostWalker. Dr. Whitney had used genetic enhancement on her. It was impossible to clear the height of the wall with a straight-up jump. His physical capabilities were enhanced and he hadn't been positive he could take the wall, yet she had gone over it with ease.

Gator hurried across the street and waited in the darkness, "feeling" with his mind. She was leery, probably sensing him, but unable to determine just what was tripping her alarms. He waited patiently, frozen in place. He was highly trained, and there were times he'd been locked into position for hours waiting for a target. He could outwait her if necessary. Whatever she was up to had to be time sensitive. The longer she was inside the estate walls, the more danger she was in. Hit, scatter, and run. Even as a child it would have been drilled into her.

The moment he sensed she was on the move, he cleared the fence in the exact same spot she had. He hadn't cased the place so it was the only safe spot to go over when he was landing blind on the other side. He landed in a crouch, just in the shadows of the hedges on the other side, automatically calming the guard dog with his mind. He took a cautious look around.

The rolling lawns were well manicured, and flowers and plants were grouped in a small area complete with fountains and statues, giving the appearance of a small private park. The house was enormous, two stories with numerous balconies and lots of brick and fancy, scrolled wrought iron. The house even boasted a jutting tower.

"Flame, what are you up to?" He whispered the words to himself, thinking of her as Flame rather than Iris. It didn't look like a rendezvous with a wealthy businessman. He ignored the out of character possessive feeling that churned in his gut as his gaze pierced the night to find her.

He caught a glimpse of her near the thick vines growing up the side of the house. She moved with stealth, knees bent, carefully placing each foot as she skirted the huge windows. She turned her head suddenly and looked right at him.

This is a part of the GhostWalker series she has written. They are full of intrigue, espionage and very romantically involved scenes. It is different and very enjoyable to read, keeps me on the edge of my seat. Would highly recommend the reading of this book and the other ghostwalker series.

Both genetically enhanced, Iris 'Flame' Johnson and Gator Fontemont met when he rescued her. They are attracted to one another, but Gator has always been a lone ranger so he struggles with his need to be with her and Flame trusts no one. However, he learns she remains in danger from Dr. Peter Whitney, whom Gator thought dead (see SHADOW GAME) he willingly risks his life to keep her safe................ Realizing he is enhanced like her, Flame fears Gator plans to return her to the evil Whitney. She detests the fact that she cannot get him out of her mind as she feels an irresistible attraction to him that she assumes is just one more inbreeding mechanism devised by Whitney. She distrusts her growing love for Gator as much as she expects him to betray her. Together they might defeat their common enemy, but separately they will probably die or worse be re-imprisoned by Whitney that is if he is the cat chasing them............... The latest Ghostwalker Game thriller is a terrific paranormal entry because of the personalities of two loners, both ready to explode (especially the heroine) and neither easily trusting others particularly those who Whitney experimented on. The story line is action-packed never slowing down, but also has the haunting of Katrina as pre-hurricane New Orleans serves as the backdrop. Christine Feehan is on her A-game with her latest paranormal thriller........... Harriet Klausner

I have just finished Night Game, book 3 in Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker series, and it was so good! The story is centered around Ghostwalker Raoul "Gator" Fontenot, as he searches the bayou for a missing local singer, and on a side mission, a female Ghostwalker named Iris "Flame" Johnson. Flame is another of the girls Peter Whitney bought when they were babies to conduct his illegal and immoral psychic experiments. Although Whitney's experiments gave Flame superior physical strength and hearing, her enhancement comes at a terrible cost. When she was a child, Whitney deliberately infected Flame with cancer in order to use her as a human lab rat in his quest for a cure. Genetically enhanced without her consent, Flame is a ticking time bomb who would rather die than be back under Whitney's thumb. Night Game is my favorite of the Ghostwalker series so far. The action is non-stop, and the intrigue regarding Whitney will make for even more wonderful Ghostwalker stories in the future. Night Game takes the Ghostwalker series to new emotional heights introducing pregnancy and cancer issues into the group. The twists and turns in the story left me crying like a baby several times. Gator and Flame were strong and multi-faceted characters, both brilliant and independent and at the same time, complementary to each other. The chemistry between them was explosive and simply incredible. I always love reading about the other Ghostwalkers - in this case Ry and Lilly, Nico and Dahlia, Ian, Tucker, and Kaydan - but I also loved Gator's family. Wyatt, one of Gator's younger brothers, could have his own book, despite the fact that he is not Special Forces/psychic. And Nonny, Gator's grandmother - there's a good old Southern spitfire if I ever saw one! The setting of the Louisiana bayou was amazingly realistic, and I felt like I was right there in the muck and the mud with the characters. The pace of the story is excellent, and it contains a good balance of action, romance, and intrigue, and all of the elements that make for a captivating read. This series just gets better and better the more I read. The character development throughout the series makes the reader feel as though she actually knows them. I can't wait to pick up book 4 and continue on with the Ghostwalkers journey.

Home on leave to search for traces of a missing blues singer, Gator Fontenot finds more than he bargained for in the sultry-voiced Flame. The knife-wielding assassin has a secret past and no trust for the smooth talking Cajun - but the attraction between the two is steamier that hot nights on the bayou. Flame's trust grows, but when Gator betrays her to save her life he may lose her forever. One of the earlier books in the series - the sex is hot, explicit and a bit repetitive, but not nearly so much as the later books in the series have gotten. The dialogue is snappy and there are some laugh out loud moments.

This is Gator's story and the third book in the Ghost Walker series. This is also the story where we meet Iris "Flame" Johnson. Gator and Flame are well match for each other both physically and psychically. There is also a lot sexual tension through most of the story because Flame is convinced that Peter Whitney has done something to enhance the attraction that Gator and she feel to each other. Flame is also convinced that Peter Whitney is alive. This book definitely brings forth the underlying plot that continue to play out through all the future books, or all of them I have read. This underlying and going plot is a hallmark of Ms. Feehan and she is very good at it. I like Flame even though she could come off as a bitch, underneath all the bluster she is a caring person even with all that Peter Whitney has put her through. I can't recommend this series enough.

This was probably my favorite of the series. I enjoy these books because of the mix of action and adventure as well as the connections to the other books in the series.

Another addition to the Ghostwalker series by Christine Feehan, 'Night Game' was my least favorite of all the books thus far. Though it had an excellent if not already established storyline, I found myself having trouble connecting to the heroine, Flame, and many of the things that transpired throughout the novel. While I appreciate that all of Feehan's heroines are different in various way, I found myself wondering if we were suppose to believe that Flame was the "strongest" of them all and therefore better. I'm sure that wasn't the intention but, to me, it distracted from the storyline and was, frankly, annoying. I did, however, love the introduction to new characters, places, and, of course, more pieces to the Whitney puzzle. Overall, this was definitely an enjoyable read but for me, the heroine lacked something that would have otherwise made her more likeable.

Gator Fontenot of the special forces paranormal squad is on the hunt for Iris "Flame" Johnson. Shes also a product of the experiments that awoke the psychic in Gator but her body rebelled and may be killing her, that is if they can stop the people who want to kill her and him.

I really like the books in this series. I own most and in hopes of owning all in the future. The author paints a world so real and vivid that you are drawn into the lives of Gator and Flame. You can smell the bayou and her the sounds as you read along. Erotic, physiological, and suspenseful thriller.

I like all of Christen Feehan's stories, but this one is the best, hands down. I love Gator. I hated for this one to end.
