This book is great for the 10month-2yr old ages! It is also perfect for taking places where you want to quietly entertain your child in a small space (airplane, church, etc.) because it is small and has many colorful pictures of familiar and interesting items for little people. It was a mandatory diaper bag item for our more active baby!

I purchased the entire (body, words, colors, animals, etc.) collection for my grandson who is just over a year. These books are indicated as great "first" books for children up to 2 years old. They are completely misrepresented. The pictures are unengaging and there are far too many words on each page and/or picture. Tiny print with lines pointing everywhere - it's like a mini science book with diagrams and pictures more appropriate for children in kindergarten, or possibly ages 3-4. Grandpa and I both were very disappointed and found them to not be engaging in any way when we sat with them and tried to read them with our grandson. It isn't that he doesn't engage with other books, because he does and he enjoys them, but these were in no way interesting to him.

My son was given this book for his first birthday. This book was a favorite of the little boy (now three years old) who presented it to my son. My son reads this book on his own, and with me. His attention span while listening to this book is fantastic. As we go places, like the park, he points out pictures he has seen. (An example is the digger.) That was followed by a line of conversation about that digger. This book gives the child words for his everyday world so can learn to communicate about himself and the other objects that influence his/her world. It's a wonderful book to follow-up with the three step sequence--introduce picture, ask your child to select the picture you named, and then ask your child to name it.
