About the Author
Hi, I'm Dave Straube and glad you've found me at Smashwords. I'd love to tell you I'm a whiz-bang financial advisor like those in "Someday Is Not a Plan - A Guide to Understanding Money in Plain English." But the truth is that I'm a software programmer by trade. So what makes me qualified to write about money? If you've read the book you know that it chronicles financial discussions between twenty-something Larry and his retired uncle Roger. Well, I used to be like Larry and made many of the mistakes he did. More, actually. Like the time my wife and I bought two cars in one week. Or the time we bought a house without ever stepping foot inside it or getting an inspection. Trust me, I've paid dumb tax much too often. The good news is that experience is the best teacher of all. I've learned from my mistakes and evolved into someone like uncle Roger. With my own kids getting ready to set out into the world it seemed like a good time to record what I've learned. My hope is that you find the book entertaining, informative, and that it prevents you from making the same mistakes that I did. Do me one better, please. The crossword book is a different story altogether. My wife created crosswords for our local weekly newspaper for a while and then decided to "go national" with a book of golf-themed crosswords. I helped out by compiling a database of golf stats and trivia for her to use in the book. When the book didn't materialize, I inserted my foot in my mouth big time by asking "How hard can it be to create a bunch of crosswords?" Very hard, as it turned out. But the challenge was out there and I had to deliver. The result was "Not Your Typical Large-Print Crosswords #3: Quotes, Quips, & Proverbs" which, as you might have guessed, isn't golf-themed at all, nor the third in a series. Go figure.
