Modern Rock 1987: Hang the DJ

Modern Rock 1987: Hang the DJ

2 New & Used Starting at $3.31

Although it suffers from some of the same problems as its predecessor, Modern Rock 1987: Hang the DJ is a much stronger volume than the 1986 disc. Primarily, it benefits from the lack of crossover hits. Many of these songs -- most notably R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" -- have become radio hits in the years since their release, but all of the cuts here intially were played on college radio. In fact, with songs by the Sugarcubes, the Smiths, Hoodoo Gurus, Julian Cope, and Public Image Limited, Modern Rock 1987: Hang the DJ offers a representative sampling of what American alternative rock sounded like in that particular year.
