A departure from the driving, guitar-heavy sound of their earlier work, Divided by Friday explore pop and R&B influences on their EP Modern Memoirs. With its slicker, more smoothed-out production, the album represents a sea change for the band, who now have the breathing room to explore other sounds. The change is drastic enough that fans of the band might be a bit confused initially, but seeing as their sound always had its roots in pop, the transition is one that ultimately suits the band.
