Gosh! Suspense and excitement from start to finish, its intense and mysterious as well. Linked to both the Sleeper Seals Series and Dale Mayer's Heroes For Hire Series, the focus is on Michael. Levi and Ice have been trying to recruit him for a while but he has been refusing, wanting to stay retired until he receives a phone call from someone else needing his help that changes his mind. Mercy is trying to find out why her sister was murdered, she goes privately under cover to get information. This is a book you do not want to put down, I was hooked from the first page and would happily have sat and read without interruption (#blow life getting in the way)still I read in every free minute I could get. I loved that Mercy was strong and feisty, determined to stay and do her bit. I loved that the clues were slow to pop up and gradual when they did to draw the suspense to maximum, causing my heartbeat to slowly increase as the excitement towards the conclusion built. Wonderful plot and characters and as always at the end of the main story a brief introduction to the next story character. Just enough of a tease to have me wanting the next book. Well worth the five stars.

I just have to say, I enjoyed the play on words with this title a lot. This book was a bit different from the rest of the books in the series. Good different. Mercy was a strong female character that went undercover to discover why her sister was murdered. She was an equal partner in the events of this book, which I have to say I enjoyed immensely. Michael is also not a carbon copy of all the other heroes. It is a nice change. I would recommend this book to all readers who love romantic suspense and those who love Dale Mayer books. Thank you to the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I just love the spin offs that everyone keeps coming up with, keeping an already awesome series going in different but the same directions. ( if that makes sense. :) ) The sleeper seals series can be read as standalone and even though they have a order I have been told they can be read in any sequence. Michael is struggling in the civilian world, he has a purpose but it does not fulfil him. Asked to do a solitary mission to find out what happened to a fellow seal member he reenters the game as if he has not left. Meeting Mercy was not planned and while he found her attractive he wants her off the playing field. Mercy is looking for answers, putting herself in danger to get them was not what she wanted to do but if it was the only way to get the answers to her questions, then so be it. While other crossover characters are brought into the plot, the main focus of this series is centered on one person or couple instead of the group. I thought it was a refreshing change ( don't get me wrong, I love the other series and they center around a specific couple but the other characters are a major part of the story line.). The mystery was compelling, the plot was intriguing keeping your attention centered on the happenings around our two main characters. Not as fast paced as the other series but moves along at a good speed. Ms. Mayer always throws in some interesting situations keeping her readers guessing and on the edge of their seat. I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion.

Michael's Mercy by Dale Mayer Sleeper SEALs Series Book Three Michael Hampton retired from the military a year ago and is happy on his ranch. Alone. Levi, someone he knew from SEALs, has approached him often, asking to join his security company. But he's out for good. Until he gets a call of a murdered friend who was undercover. Mercy Romano is determined to find out what happened to her sister. Even if she hasn't seen her for years, she refuses to let someone get away with murder. She replaces her sister as a maid at a huge estate—and quickly finds it'll be harder than she thought to get answers. Michael doesn't need a woman to worry about while undercover. But Mercy is stubborn and refuses to give up her mission. Great series with characters the reader has met in earlier books showing up to help in the other stories. **Sensual content and language

Sammy was on a black ops mission to find information on an arms dealer when Anna & Sammy were killed execution style. Mercy (Anna’s sister) takes a job where her sister was working to find out what happened. Michael is happy being a retired SEAL has no desire to go on any ops, but when Michael’s old commander calls him and asks Michael to look into his teammate Sammy’s death, he takes the op. Michael works with Mercy to uncover what happened. I loved how Michael felt like he had to protect Mercy, but she ends up helping to protect him. This book is a crossover between the Sleeper Seal and Heroes for Hire series. The members of Legendary Security make brief appearances. Levi provides information to help Michael and Ice helps to take care of Mercy when she’s injured. Although Michael has no desire to stay in the ops business, Mercy convinces him that the work is a part of who he is and Michael decides to join Levi. Along with Michael some of his teammates also joined Legendary Security. I can’t wait to find out their stories. I received a free copy of this book, and this is a voluntary review.

I received an Arc in exchange for an honest review. While we are being honest, I begged for the ARC because I enjoy Dale Mayers books. Every time I turned the corner, I knew this was it. Not so. My one complaint is when I started the epilogue I reread it 3 times trying to figure out who someone was and where did this play in. That being said, I think I am the only one who had an issue, so I attribute it to reader error :) There are about 5 authors, that I would buy whatever they wrote. Ms Mayer is one.

Suspenseful, with lots of action, drama, danger and chemistry. A entertaining mystery with strong characters that's well worth the read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

They’re both separately undercover… This is the tenth book in the Heroes for Hire series and the third book in the Sleeper SEALs series that can be read as a stand-alone. Retired Navy SEAL Michael Hampton is pulled back into action, by his former commander who now heads a clandestine counter-terrorism division outside of the normal military chain, to find out what happened to a murdered SEAL and to complete the special dark operations mission the man had been on. Michael left the service to recover from burnout and to have some semblance of a normal life, which is working his Texas ranch. He’s refused prior attempts to recruit him back into action but the deceased SEAL had been a friend, the brother-in-arms that everyone in their unit always looked out for so Michael couldn’t decline the assignment. Taking his friend’s place as the gardener/chauffeur of the target’s estate he’ll find out what’s going on and avenge his friend. He’s not the only new hire, the woman who’d also lost her life was replaced with a woman who doesn’t really fit in. When the police informed Mercy Romano of the death of Anna, her estranged older sister providing little information about the life she’d led or why she’d been murdered Mercy took a leave of absence from her marketing job to work as the maid of an estate, the same job her sister held to discover what happened, what her life had been like, to somehow touch the sister she’d missed. Anna had been the wild child who walked away from the family years ago, Mercy hadn’t been able to reconnect with her and wants answers. She’s over her head with the physical labor she’s not used to and the danger of her task but she’s not giving up. She’s observant of people and knows that the other new hire is not the landscaper he seems, an intense tightly wound man that does not fit the mold of his profession. There’s a definite dark mystery at the estate, lots of rules to abide by and restricted areas and curfews. Both Michael and Mercy separately wonder what is going on and what is being hidden from view. Both undercover from the boss and undercover from each other but Michael’s connections learn who Mercy really is and he confronts her, the outcome of that conversation not to his expectation. They are strong determined individuals brought together by similar objectives, working together, protecting each other. It was adorable how they became heroes to each other, Mercy was gutsy and as protective as Michael with an unerring ability to sense what he’d been hiding from himself since he’d retired. That this book didn’t focus on the “keeper” theme of the Heroes for Hire series which often seems like exercises in matchmaking was a nice change. This is true romantic suspense, two people meet amid an action and suspense backdrop not having thought about the possibilities of finding or not finding a love beforehand to realize they have an attraction they’d like to explore in between staying alive. These two made a cute couple who improvised rather well as they navigated the dangerous territory they were in and the feelings evoked for the other. This reader loved what began as a marketing scene, appearances became all too real with the chemistry that existed between Mercy and Michael. Though the mystery was solved a clear update of exactly what the villain had been planning domestically was missing. An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author.

This is the third book in the Sleeper SEALS series. The series is based on a group of retired Navy Seals recruited by the government to work solo dark/black ops missions. The common thread is their commander, Greg Lambert. This one gives us Michael Stanton and Mercy. Michael is working undercover at an estate to find out what happened to another operative that was murdered while working undercover . Mercy, is working as a housekeeper at the estate under false pretense. Her estranged sister Anna was murdered in the estate and Mercy wants to know why. Once the two of them realize they are searching for answers for the same murders, Michael is determined to protect Mercy as much as he can. Mercy is determined to get her answers. The chemistry between the two of them is fun to watch. Each is good for the other one. The plot thickens and the danger hightens. It’s a story filled with suspense , murder, possible weapon trafficking, bad guys, hunky good guys and of course, romance. For those of you familiar with the author’s series, Heroes for Hire, you will come across a couple of the characters in that series. An enjoyable story. Looking forward to more stories in this series. I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
