A pair of live radio broadcasts from New Jersey's Meadowbrook Ballroom featuring the Harry James Orchestra, complete with string section and singers Buddy DeVito and
Kitty Kallen. The James organization was hot as a pistol in 1944 when these live air shots were broadcast, the band having scored nationally with "You Made Me Love You" and with movie appearances. Harry blows effectively on "When Your Lover Has Gone" and there's nice solo work from
Willie Smith and "Corky" Corcoran. Those who think of the James' band as a strictly a syrupy schmaltz unit with little jazz content will have their ears opened with this disc.
