In his first and only official autobiography, music icon Elton John reveals the truth about his extraordinary life, from his rollercoaster lifestyle as shown in the film Rocketman, to becoming a living legend.
Christened Reginald Dwight, he was a shy boy with Buddy Holly glasses who grew up in the London suburb of Pinner and dreamed of becoming a pop star. By the age of twenty-three he was performing his first gig in America, facing an astonished audience in his bright yellow dungarees, a star-spangled T-shirt, and boots with wings. Elton John had arrived and the music world would never be the same again.
His life has been full of drama, from the early rejection of his work with song-writing partner Bernie Taupin to spinning out of control as a chart-topping superstar; from half-heartedly trying to drown himself in his LA swimming pool to disco-dancing with Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth; from friendships with John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, and George Michael to setting up his AIDS Foundation to conquering Broadway with Aida, The Lion King, and Billy Elliot the Musical. All the while Elton was hiding a drug addiction that would grip him for over a decade.
In Me, Elton also writes powerfully about getting clean and changing his life, about finding love with David Furnish and becoming a father. In a voice that is warm, humble, and open, this is Elton on his music and his relationships, his passions and his mistakes. This is a story that will stay with you by a living legend.

I loved this book and the chance to hear Sir Elton's voice as he narrated his up / down / sideways moments with both raw honesty and humor. I laughed and cried at multiple points of this glimpse into his world. Thank you for sharing these emotions and memories with the world.
much like the artist himself and his music, ive come to the conclusion sucks ballz just as hard as elton himself. This book is so uninteresting and much more boring than the movie it was based off of. like why write about elton of all people? this man has had no influence on music of today and some of the more underground artists. its the same situation as Queen, nobody actually cares about them, only their hits, even then the music is pretty bland compared to music released at that time. OFFICIAL REVIEW: Really gay and boring/10
Elton told of heartbreak of hurt of sadness and love. He told of his psychotic relationship with his mother and non existent relationship with his father. All he wanted was to be loved. As a child and as an adult. No doubt he is a genius. Thank goodness he found Bernie Taupin. The best songwriting duo in history. Music and Lyrics. Elton had to find himself and he went through so many avenues and so many people to discover who he was and he nearly ruined his life with drugs and alcohol. Thanks to AA and David and EJAF he has turned his life around he has married and has two beautiful boys. He is currently doing his Farewell Tour so that his fans have a chance to see him one last time before he retires. He tells his life story in Me and it's hard to believe he's still alive after all he's been through. But he has finally come full circle. He's happy in his life and family. He's left a legacy and this book for his children so they will know what their dad was really like no candy coating. He can retire and enjoy fatherhood. Excellent book!
