This newcomer to CCM offers an exciting dual proposition--power rockers that border on anthemic (the orchestrally enhanced "I Am the Way," "When You Give") balanced by heartwrenching ballads like "He's My Son." In a way, this is the contrast Michael W. Smith has built his career upon, but Schultz has a little more of a rock piano and gospel influence, and actually a more appealing voice. The most interesting production is "When You Give," which finds Schultz (who also plays keyboards) backed by a gospel choir that breaks into the R&B chestnut "Take Me To the River" and gives those lyrics a spiritual meaning. After this, more pedestrian tunes like "Fall in Love Again" are a bit of a letdown, but on their own, each of the songs here holds up and works on both personal and more universal levels. Schultz's songs cover a wide range of topics, from learning to see God from a blind man's perspective to the pain of letting go when a child finally grows up. Schultz delivers all these messages with power and grace and Monroe Jones' production is marvelous. Look for Schultz to become one of the genre's biggest voices in the coming years.

....that God created music! Mark Schultz has taken words and music and has so eloquently fused them together to convey not only wondrous messages to the heart but inspiration to the human soul. I truly recommend this CD. "He's My Son" compels one to feel from the point of literally being in the setting of the song. It's a miraculously touching serenade filled with passion and much love. God Bless you Mark...Keep up the GREAT WORK!

Mark is the missing link to the age-old question, ''Who sings that song?'' Until I heard Mark's album, I assumed Billy Joel and Air Supply had jumped a genre. All of these songs are ''radio ready''. Be resigned to the fact that you WILL NOT be able to get them out of your head.

I can't praise this album enough! Schultz has an amazing voice and his songs are very moving. A mix of songs of praise and songs of life, this album has a lot to offer the contemporary listener. The first two songs on the album will have you smiling and singing along while the following two songs will have you crying in responce to Schultz's beautiful voice and touching lyrics. Not long ago I recommended this album to a young married couple and they took my word on it and bought it. They got back with me a few days later and thanked me for telling them about it - they love it! I wish Mark the best in what will no doubt be a glittering future.

Oh my God this is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. If this doesn't become a hit, I don't know what should.

I really liked all of the songs I was able to hear. However, the song ''He's My Son'' really touched the depths of my heart. I am a 37 year old woman, who felt I still had very much of my life left, then fell sick to a very depleting illness which brings much depression and pain. The song ''He's My Son'' is a song that is felt both by the one who loves and the one who is sick, and this brings encouragement to my heart, not that I want us all to feel pain, but that our pain is not forgotten or felt by others. God Bless you, Mark Schultz and the Spirit of God who gave you this God inspired song. Lisa

It is truly a wonderful piece of work. I truly love ''He's My Son'' and when I heard ''When You Come Home'' it brought tears to my eyes. I truly hope Mark does some more music soon. God has blessed him with a great voice.

I love this CD. Every time I listen to it, I have to re-play the song When You Come Home several times because it speaks to my heart in such a way that I can't ignore it. It explains the love that a mother has for her son and the bond that will never break. I could never experience this for many reasons, but the feeling is there, and I love it.
