A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.

Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.

Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.

As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

I have to start by saying it’s great to be back in the Shacking Up world and once again Helena Hunting has given us an great entertaining read that I’m sure you will all love. Making Up is full of witty banter, sizzling chemistry and characters that you can’t help falling in love with. Cozy is the quirky fun loving sales assistant at the local Adults only shop and Griffin Mills is the eldest sibling of the Mills hotelier family who has been left in charge of picking up the gag gifts for his friends bachelor party and that’s where the fun begins .......this couple may be like chalk and cheese but opposites attract and the attraction between these two is instant, the chemistry sizzling and banter witty. As you would expect from this author the road to true love is never easy and there are a few twists and turns along the way which will leave you holding your breath as you try to work out what now !!! The laugh out loud moments mixed with just the right amount of love, passion and drama make this a great entertaining read that I highly recommend.

I loved being back in the Shaking Up world with the latest release from Helena Hunting. An embarrassing meeting between Cosy Felton and Griffin Mills starts them both on a journey that will open their eyes. Griffin is suckered into purchasing the gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party he is relieved when sales assistant Cosy takes pity on him and helps him out. Griffin is trying to get his life back on track and is attracted to Cosy. Ms. Hunting wove a story that drew me in and held me captivated. The camaraderie, banter and friendship that Cosy and Griffin had made this a joy to read and I really was cheering for these two to get their happily ever after. The chemistry between them was intense and you could feel the sizzle in the air. I love Ms. Hunting's style of writing, she ensures that her characters are “real”. I found the characters easy to relate to particularly Cosy and Griffin. There was just something about them and the awkward situations that came up throughout this book that had me smiling like a loon. Making Up is a story that had me entertained from the first to the last chapter.

3.5 STARS! I started off the Shacking Up series backwards with I Flipping Love You, so in preparation for Making Up and Handle With Care I decided to binge read the series. With that being said, Helena Hunting has proven why she's a favorite author and a queen of RomCom. Her stories have witty, sassy, fun, strong and independent women with equally strong men as their counterparts. So, to say I was excited to begin Making Up is a massive understatement! I really enjoyed Griffin's story but it wasn't my favorite of the bunch. One thing I did love was seeing how different Griffin is from his two brothers. He might be the oldest Mills but he's the most reserved and sensitive one. He's jaded and he's been hurt. Meeting Cosy is unexpected and a breathe of fresh air but Griffin is quickly drawn to this fearless and brazen girl. Their encounter is one of those meet-cute moments you tell your grandchildren about! There's an age gape between them, Cosy being 22 and Griffin 33. Though I was a bit peeved with Cosy at times with how she acted in some moments, it was something that could be overlooked. These two were the perfect balance and they made a cute couple. I loved it. It was push and pull. Their relationship took time to grow and blossom. At first they're hestiate but they give it a go anyway. Their chemistry is off the charts and together they're fun and adventurous. Overall, this book was so much fun and entertaining. You get small snippets of Lincoln and the Mills brothers. What I found unnecessary and even Cosy agreed, was the drama. It was just too much at times... But everything worked itself out and I loved how things turned out in the end for Griffin and Cosy. Helena Hunting will captivate you with her writing and have you laughing and falling in love with these characters. Making Up was filled with equally fun and sweet moments. This is definitely a series you don't want to miss out on. Now, I'm so ready for Lincoln's book!

From the awkward and funny first encounter, Making Up is a roller coaster ride of drama, heat & adventure. Cosy the free spirited college student and Griffin the sexy older executive shouldn’t make sense, but together they just fit. Seeing how sweet & attentive Griffin is makes him one of Helena Hunting’s most endearing heroes. Looking forward to reading cousin/best friend Lincoln’s story next.

4.5 Stars! I great book where opposites attract! Lots of humor, heat, and I loved how these two quirky characters found their way. I love that the setting is in Las Vegas and certain phrases always made me smile and rang true in my own life. I love how there are life lessons in this book too! How many don't do "touristy" things in their own backyard, don't judge someone based upon their age/income, and how opposites can and do attract. Cute and fun, this is a fantastic summer read!

entertaining and funny read with the romance

Making Up is really sweet with Griffin and Cosy at the helm. This book gave me ALL the feels. I was laughing and feeling angsty and angry and then back to being totally in love with Griffin. I was worried for awhile that we wouldn’t be getting Griffin’s story. I kept hearing about this chick named Imogen. I’m not gonna touch that, other than to say that HH will break your heart and then fix it again before the end of the story.

Oh my heart… this book is so darn perfect! Making Up by Helena Hunting is an amazing and delightfully entertaining romcom that will steal your hearts and give you all the swoony feels. From the very first scene until the epilogue, I honestly enjoyed every moment with Cosy and Griffin. I know now why so many romance fans fall in love with Helena Hunting. With plenty of humor, steam, sweetness, and heart, this book is addictive and so much fun. I found myself smiling so much, laughing out loud a few times, and feeling so giddy with all the feels. There’s just enough drama, complications, and unexpected surprises that keeps the story interesting. While some parts are a bit predictable, Hunting manages to make it so exciting and fun that I was engrossed the entire time. The characters are absolutely wonderful and relatable. They’re also adorably quirky, amusing, and just so lovable. I won’t deny it.. this cute romcom definitely has my heart and I’m utterly smitten with Cosy and Griffin. Cosy is my girl and I admired everything about her. She’s funny, smart, adventurous, independent, and just an awesome heroine. Griffin stole a piece of my heart from the moment he stepped into the adult toy store where Cosy works. He’s ridiculously hot and rich, but there’s this sweet, tender, and vulnerable side of him that I find so irresistible. I also really love that he’s down to earth, honest, kind, romantic, and just a really good person. His determination to show Cosy just how much he cares and loves her is so heartwarming and I just think he’s perfect for Cosy and vice versa. They’re seriously such an adorable and cute couple. Their chemistry is sexy and undeniable. I love their playful bantering, their flirtatious and steamy scenes, and all their amusing and endearing moments together. They gave my heart plenty of delicious swoons and feels and I honestly love love love them together! Adorably hilarious, deliciously swoony and irresistibly charming, Making Up by Helena Hunting made my heart melt over and over. It’s humorous, entertaining, sexy, romantic and sweet. It’s truly an absolute fun and delightful read and I honestly cannot recommend it enough. If you love romcoms, awkward meet cutes, quirky lovable characters, and swoony romances, then you need to get this book ASAP. I adore Cosy and Griffin and their story so much and I hope you get to meet them really soon. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Griffin and Cosy story takes the Shacking Up series up a notch. Helena Hunting as always delivers a story full of humor and romance, with amazing characters. Cosy is in college and works at a sex toy shop, Griffin is set to buy things at the sex shop, they meet and now opposites attract in a hilarious way. Prepare yourself on a journey you won't want to end, it's an emotional road with humor and love you will enjoy this summer.

3.5 Stars With an age gap to deal with and an unusual occupation for the heroine, Making Up was a fun, easy read that had humor, heart, and heat and had two great characters that deserved to find their happily ever after. I liked both Griffin and Cosy and thought they were perfect for each other despite the age difference and where they were in their lives. There was definite chemistry between them right from the start, and once they finally get involved these two had some serious heat between them. I did think there was a bit too much drama between them and really didn’t like the issue that involved Cosy’s sister, but I did think that the characters easily moved past some of the issues without causing an angst overload, so I was still routing for their HEA all the way through. I haven’t read Helena Hunting before and really liked her writing style and found this book very easy to read. I liked the secondary characters and am curious now to go back and read the other books in this series – Griffin’s family seems quite interesting and I’m sure there are some great stories there!

This is book #4, in the Shacking Up series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers and gain full understanding of this series, I recommend reading these in order. Cosy has a hard job. She is Las Vegas, working at an adult toy store. When Griffin comes in she assumes he is just another perv off the street. Lots of those in Vegas. Griffin is bowled away by Cosy from the moment they meet. He just has to figure a way to get her to go out with him. How will he ever survive a future that could be so blank now that he has met the one? This is in my opinion, this author's best work to date. The characters feel very real. Flawed, good looking, and struggling to show excitement for their current situation. Then they get together and magic! I loved their banter and the heat was sizzling over. ***This early copy was given by Netgalley and its publisher, in exchange for an honest review.

You know a book is going to be hilarious when it open in a sex toy shop and Making Up definitely did not disappoint!! Griffin and Cosy's story was so funny!! Age gap isn't usually my jam but I thought this book was everything!!! The connection between these two was pretty instant considering their weird first meeting: her working at a sex toy shop, him buying a bunch of weird stuff for a bachelor party. I snort laughed my way through this entire book but there was definitely some angst that balanced this story perfectly. Even though Making Up is the 4th book in the Shacking Up series, I definitely think it can be read as a standalone but you need Bane, Lex, and Pierce in your life. If you've read the first three books in this series then you know that Armstrong is the actual worst. Making Up made me hate him even more and wish that he would just fall off the face of the Earth. He has to get his comeuppance sooner or late but I'd really like it to be sooner. Fingers crossed it happens in Handle with Care!!!

Making Up uses one of my favorite romance tropes with the Older Man/Younger Woman love story, then it combines that with one of my least favorite plot devices for the required bit of angst. I won't go into details on that so as not to give spoilers, but it just felt unnecessary to me. That said, it was handled a little differently than the norm, so that was a plus. Other than that one drawback, this story is hands down my favorite in this series of standalones. Griffin and Cosy are both terrific characters and they just fit together even when they're butting heads. Cosy is outgoing and fun, and an absolute hoot, and she certainly knows how to keep the sexy Griffin on his toes. Griffin does a bit more groveling than I care for in a male love interest, but he's so darn adorable about it that it's impossible not to love him. The story is witty and fun, and makes for a great weekend read, especially if you're looking for an HEA.

Griffin Mills and Cosy Felton’s hilarious meet-cute is a whole lot awkward with a good amount of embarrassment, and its setting is definitely not a place most would go to find unless they were looking for a kinky someone who would love to use any of the sex toys that fill the shelves of Cosy’s place of employment, Sex Toy Warehouse. And, let me tell you, the sales mask that Cosy wears along with her required ‘uniform’ enable her to ‘sell sexy toys like nobody’s business,’ even if she doesn’t have a lot of experience in the actual act of sex. So the fact that Griffin drew the short straw and had to venture into a adult toy store to pick up the necessary gag gifts for a bachelor party is actually quite fortuitous because Cosy and Griffin never would have met if he didn’t have to embarrass himself by venturing into Sex Toy Warehouse and learning about the many different types and sizes of dildos. The best thing about Griffin and Cosy is how much they seem to own their awkwardness and make fun of themselves as they try to figure out exactly what’s between them. And, the fact that they are opposites in almost every facet of their lives, but still find a common ground and extremely enjoy being in each other’s company prove that age is just a number, baggage can be let go of, and that life doesn’t always have to be planned out - spontaneity might actually make their lives fuller. Cosy was my girl from the start - I adored her quirks, her wanderlust, her easy going spirit, and the fact that she lived her life according to her own dictates, no one else’s. She’s quite an amazing heroine, and while she’s not into staying in one place too long, moving on to her next adventure on a whim, as well as living as uncomplicated a life as possible, there’s something about Griffin that makes her want to be where he is, giving into a lifestyle that she’s never had and a plethora of surprises, which she never enjoyed. Griffin, just like the other Mills men readers have met, is totally swoon worthy, and even though he’s a bit jaded and has quite a bit of baggage due to his previous relationship, it’s clear that his an upstanding guy who deserves to be happy and despite their age difference, the fact that he lives in New York, and Cosy’s need for things to be uncomplicated, Griffin can’t help but love spending time with her and like who he is with her, which means that when his time in Vegas is over, he’ll have to hope Cosy isn’t afraid of complicating things. Making Up is a sweet, steamy, and humorous read with a bit of drama in the mix as well, which is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Helena Hunting’s stories and characters, making her one of my absolute faves! 4.5 Poison Apples

Making Up by Helena Hunting Shacking Up #4 Cosy Felton is a college student working in an adult toy shop to make ends meet. When Griffin Mills stops by the store to buy a list of items for a bachelor party Cosy makes a less than fun shopping trip a lot less embarrassing. As Griffin is drawn to Cosy he returns later to ask her on a date...and though she says no they do eventually go out. For awhile the eleven year age difference seems it might be a stumbling block but not for long...nope...soon other things seem to pop up that cause problems. There are ups and downs in their relationship but throughout the story it is impossible NOT to see them together. What I liked: * Griffin: WONDERFUL book boyfriend! * Cosy: a nice balance to Griffin and his soul mate * The meet cute * The way the two usually ended up talking things out rather than giving up * The steamy scenes * Griffin’s family * Knowing how the characters were feeling and what they were thinking – first person dual points of view * How it all worked out What I did not like: * Imogen – Griffin’s Ex-fiance * Armstrong – Griffin’s cousin * The drama of the ups and downs though they did allow for a lot of making up * All the comments about the age difference although there were times Cosy seemed younger than 22 Did I like this book? Yes Will I read more in the series? Yes Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4.5 Stars

Challenges to overcome!

This book had me rolling from the first page! It had a lot of ups and downs, sexy scenes and sweet scenes as well. If you know me, you know I am normally not a fan of the older man stories. I personally prefer a younger man myself, so a lot of times I just can't enjoy the opposite. However, when it is Helena Hunting, she can pretty much write any story and it seems I will be sucked in and love it. There were so many issues that Cosy and Griffin had to overcome, some having to do with that very age difference, but then others having to do with Griffin's past dalliances, and even Cosy's own sister threw a wrench into their relationship! But I like the way all of the obstacles were handled, realistically in my opinion, but with enough drama and even romance to make it worth reading. I've only read one other in this series, but I seriously need to go back and read all the rest!

MAKING UP is a deliciously sexy, brilliantly funny must have!!! If you're looking for that one book that will keep you utterly engaged and busting at the seams with laughter then look no further! Seriously, I’m not a Romcon fan normally but Griffin and Cosy storyline just had me from the start!!! Just over the top joy is what I got from this read!!

Making Up is a comedy of errors, from the way in which Cosy and Griffin meet to the continuous outlandish drama-llama they encounter at every turn. Cosy and Griffin appear to be completely different, from the 10 year age gap to their economic status; the scales are definitely set against them. However, their chemistry cannot be denied and as they get to know each other it is obvious how similar they are in their professional capacity and their innate wanderlust. Personally, I felt as if Helena was pouring on the problems Cost and Griffin faced to an extreme level making it almost tongue-in-cheek. I know life isn’t necessarily easy BUT Cosy and Griffin pack their problems together into a short timeframe – BAM BAM BAM – you can’t help but wonder if fate is trying to tell them something. Just when you think you have it all figured out, Helena throws a curveball adding an ingenious twist to the tale. With everything they have had thrown at them, Cosy and Griffin are a rare couple where their shared problems bring them closer and contribute to their emotional growth. A happily ever after for Cosy and Griffin is certainly a tough battle although it does give them a very strong foundation on which to build their future.

4.5 of 5 Helena Hunting’s MAKING UP (Shacking Up #4) is an original and entertaining read. Griffin Mills draws the short straw and is assigned the task of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. He is attracted to the adult toy store saleswoman, Cosy Felton. Talk about an awkward situation. This adult contemporary romance takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. MAKING UP was a fun story. The characters are lovable and have great chemistry. Cosy is not what you would expect from an adult toy store salesperson; namely because she’s lacking in experience. She is a free-spirited college student. Griffin is a hard-working businessman who is known for being serious. They seem like opposites, but the two make a great couple that compliment each other. I enjoy Helena Hunting’s writing style and humor. The story had thought-provoking obstacles. It was believable and amusing. I love how the story ended. I recommend this book to people that enjoy humorous contemporary romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I love this series and how they are all interconnected! Cosy is use to being a wanderer. She has that independent and adventurous spirit. Griffin is more logical and a planner. These two just were so adorable together. I loved the humor, sparking chemistry and how they made so much sense despite the little age difference. The twists made the story a page turner where I couldn’t wait to see how they were going to move past the bumpy road thrown at them. Every single time I read a book about this family I end up with a smile on my face and laughter in my heart.

Aww... what a fun, cute read! I really liked it! I absolutely loved Griffin's character. I enjoyed watching him go from the ego-bruised, insecure guy, to the confident, alpha male. He and Cozy heated up the pages with their chemistry! Their story is the perfect story to get lost in and enjoy a bit of time away from reality. I have adored all of the Mills men and their stories. The Shacking Up world is definitely one to dive in to. Like the others, Making Up will leave your heart full and a smile on your face. ♥ Review by Lys

I just adore a sweet and swoony romance and I can always count on Helena to deliver just that. Making up was the perfect amount of funny, sexy and angsty. A feel good romance trifecta if you will. Both Griffin and Cosy were charming. I loved their quirky banter and the overwhelming chemistry they had. Cosy is exactly the kind of heroine I like to read about, she’s funny, confident and focused on what she wants. I loved the take on her past romances. She’s not exactly an innocent but she’s not naive about things either. I know people love the bad boys in romance, I however tend to love the good guys in books. Griffin was such a great character. He was romantic, respectful and he fell hard for Cosy. His past has left his heart a little bruised, but he never stopped trying to show Cosy how much he cared for her, or how important she was to him. This one gets all of the heart eyes from me. Opposites attract is always such a fun trope to read and with Huntings fabulous spin, it is easily a new favorite.

Okay, romance lovers, can you keep a secret? Although I have happily promoted Helena Hunting and her books for a very long time, MAKING UP is actually the first book of hers that I have read. Yes, it's true... *ducks and runs* Why, I don't know, because now I am now kicking myself and wondering what in the actual heck I was thinking. As this was my first time in Helena World (see above), I wondered whether the book would work for me. Let me offer a resounding 'YES!' This book can totally be read as a standalone, and, while characters from other books do make an appearance, there's plenty of back story offered here for it to make sense. And, you know, whet our appetites to get the heck caught up with the rest of the Shacking Up world. MAKING UP is just the kind of book that I want to find on my book pile again and again and again. What a delightful read this book was! I fell in insta-love with both Cosy and Griffin, and absolutely inhaled their story. Awkward, sexy, funny, these two are a match made in heaven, and seeing them get from start to finish could not have been more fun. Any book that can leave me with a smile on my face and a love for characters that will have me reading the author's other books is a win for me. 4.5 stars and a must-read recommendation for MAKING UP. Get it. Read it. Love it.

Griffin Mills, the oft referenced, yet never seen, Mills brother. Who is the eldest sibling of this prolific hotelier family? If you have met Bane and Lexy, what is their big brother, the calmest of the bunch, really like? Could be even be as wonderful and as perfect as he seems to be in the conversations where he is mentioned? Yes. Yes, he is! He is all that and more!!!! Griffin was a dream, and Cosy was his silver lining. Griffin did everything right, no drama, no missteps, he was living his life and it was fine, and he was okay with that. Cosy was living out her life in her way too. Surrounded by drama, she flowed along on the waves, making her way in a way that felt good and right to her. Their meeting was unorthodox, and their dating wasn’t what either normally did. It all fit though, and then the tides changed. Their differences seemed overwhelming at points, but they figured things out. The emotional ties they made were unexpected, and those took them both off-guard. But they were willing to try. Griffin and Cosy were human, flawed, wonderful, and sexy. They were opposites attract, and that gave me some cringes, some tears, and some giggling out loud moments, “Living my best gay life” in rainbow glitter and the antics of our peeks at Lexington and Bancroft. And by the end, I was like them, deeply in love with these characters, who so richly deserved and needed the other, to balance the perfection that was their life!
