This three-disc set has a few songs specifically about summer, like
the Drifters' "Under the Boardwalk," for instance, but most of the sides collected here are songs that one would have first heard or most often heard during one summer or another over the years, from then until now, like
Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy,"
Shania Twain's "You're Still the One," and
the B-52s' "Love Shack," all songs that one heard on the airwaves in the summer but aren't necessarily about summer. It's no matter, really. It's a fun and energetic and sweetly nostalgic playlist no matter what the season.
