This is a well written and nice Highland laird and English down trodened high born girl romance. The characters are well devolped and there are more than a few laughs along the way. So no matter if the plot is well used, authors who like Garland and Maya Banks and others can certainly afford to have this lady try her hand and suceed.

Loved it! This was a great book. I can't wait to read the next one in this series. All the characters were so well rounded. The love story was also wonderful. Well worth the money. I will add this to my permanant library.

Page is a girl who is unloved by her father. She wanders out alone one night and gets kidnapped and held to be traded for a Scots son who was also kidnapped. This is a story about the many different kinds of love and heart breaks. With that being said there were a couple of times I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes, and my husband asked me if I was alright. A must read!

What a great story, it's one you will read over again especially when you need to get away from it all. It has it all, well written, love, suspense and the humorous scenes will have you rolling with laughter.

Scotland 1118- Laird Iain MacKinnon married Mairi MacLean hoping it, and the birth of their son, would bring the clans together after many years of feuding. She despises him. After the birth, while he's holding his son, she tells him the thought of his touch again or bearing him more children is the reason.... as she flings herself out the castle window before he could stop her. Balfour Castle, Northumbria 1124- Page FitzSimon had slipped out for a nightly swim and finds herself kidnapped by a group of Scots. No one would miss her because no one knew she was gone and actually no one would even care were they to know. Her father only wanted sons and she feels he despises her. (She's standing there after running from them barely covered, soaking wet)... ~ She cast a glance at the others and found them all staring. mouths agape. Damnation, but she hoped their idiocy wasn't contagious - they were all bloody halfwits! Every last one of them! "Catching glowworms perchance?" she asked them. A ridiculous sight, the lot of them; their brows drew together in unison and they cast surprised glances at each other, then snapped their mouths shut.~ Someone has taken Iain's son, Malcom, and handed him over to the English, all in the name of David of Scotland, to be a ward in the English court. Iain has plans to trade Page for his son. Rumors are that Iain killed his wife and beats his son. When Iain goes to barter for the exchange, Page's father hands over Malcom but tells him to keep Page. He doesn't want her back. To keep from hurting her with this information, he tells Page that he isn't going to give her back. That he's keeping her. And so the story begins..... Full of deception, betrayal, hope, acceptance, and love, this is a story that will wrap you within it's pages and pull at your heart. I read this years ago and it called for me to pick it back up. This entire series is one of my favorites. The next in the series are Lyon's Gift, On Bended Knee, Lion Heart, and Highland Song.

This was a fantastic read - the characters are well developed in their uniqueness and quirks, and you truly feel, especially by the end, that they're almost dear friends. My Only disappointment was that the story ends at a point where you are so taken in by their story - trials, victories, happiness, whatever - that I was actually pretty upset that there was no more of their journey to read about. In anticipating/hoping that the second book in the "series" would be the continuation of Iain and Page's story, I found it to be, though another wonderful story, about an entirely new set of (fascinating, lovable) characters. I hope Ms.Crosby will one day return to the next phase of these "people's" lives... (and might I add that I hope she'll do the same for the people in the following book as well... titled "Lyon's Gift"). All in all, its the romance read that gets into "it" the way you want it to, and the characters, no matter what their opinion or point of view, are all accessible and easy to relate to, both in thought and action. Even with my wish for more of their story, I still highly recommend this book, it's a great read that draws you in from page one.

I found this romance lukewarm and predictable. The story kept me interested, but it could have been better. The author should have picked up the story's pace. The book felt long and drawn out. The characters were constantly doubting themselves and each other. I'm glad I got this book for free, guess you get what you pay for.

Really good book. I was glad that it wasn't packed full of graphic sex scenes. I got tired of all the crying she did, but the cute things the boy said helped to make up for it. The relationship between the father & son was heart-warming. Worth the read!

Entertaining story, but i found myself skimming over parts that rambled on too long.

TAKE ME AWAY IAIN!!! What a wonderful, intriguing, suspenseful story!! I didn't find the character of Page nasty, but endearing. She suffered a lot at the hands of her father, and this obviously made her have self-esteem issues. Iain, was a dream, my heart ached for him too. The secondary character's are written so richly that I felt I was part of the story. The lovemaking, had just the correct amount of passion and descriptive to make you swoon. I didn't find the lovemaking trashy at all. If you are a Highland/Regency Romance reader, the lovemaking is slightly above mild. I highly recommend this unique storyline, and any other book by this amazing author. I am not going into the story, as other's have explained it, but just want you to know the amazing time you will have reading it. (ljb)

Predictable...only read 1/2 of the pages to get the story...lose the repetitive "self-talk" and redo to be a nice 150 page book would be my recommendation

Hooked me in from the start, finished in one sitting. Tons of romance and a hint of steamy sex!

A 280 page free story of a young brash woman, neglected by her English Lord father, caught by a northren Scottish Laird night bathing in a stream. He then claims her as an exchange for his kidnapped son once she proclaims herself to be the English Lord's daughter. Angst, foolishness, derision, loneliness, humor, and pages of explicit sex. The first page of every chapter is unreadable do to the print type used being incompatable with Nook scanning.

Great love story.

I doubt kids in the year 1124 used expressions like "beat him up" (page 169). Not a bad story with some huge giggles but drifting between Scotish and modern day talk detracts big time.

Wow...I am going to just say it, while everyone is entitled to their opinons, its sad that nook readers have turned into whinny critics. This is a top selling writer and the reviews are catty and rude. This is one of the best books ever.
