This book describes what it is like to be different. All children crave being like everyone else. But there are things that make us all different.
This author tells how to deal with those things by stating that you are “one of a kind”. Tall, small, big, little, things you can do that others can’t, fast or slow, the author tells you why these are all good things.
The book helps a child who is being teased by describing how to look positively at whatever the “problem” is. The final page is blank and allows the child to make a list of what is unique about him/her.
If you know of a child who is having to deal with a bully or is being teased, this book will make for good reading.

A book everyone should own, and for children it will help them accept their differences. With rhyme and illustrations galore we visually see differences pointed out in a comical and yet non-threatening way, everyone is different, and yet the same.
This book will be displayed on our coffee table, and the boys want it shared and they did try to talk without moving their mouths. Even the title of the book makes me smile.
There are a lot of great messages that so important to pass on to our youngsters, this should even be a mandatory read for all.
I received this book through New Shelves Distribution, and was not required to give a positive review

A Rhyming Picture Book – A Unique Approach to Self-Confidence and Self-Acceptance
Author, entrepreneur, magician, comedian, and ventriloquist Jimmy Vee is recognized by many as the “Five Foot High Marketing Guy. “Little Jimmy” narrates his story in “Same Is Lame” a book written for children age four through eight years old. Jimmy uses his shortness as a man as a unique opportunity to do special things that tall people cannot. He encourages the young reader to realize every individual is different, a one of person. He calls attentions to a number of diverse individuals to demonstrate how these unique differences can turn out to become personal strength, validating how being unique helps a person stand out, should be embraced, and will insure success.
“Same Is Lame” is empowering, resulting in self- confidence, pride, and high achievement. Mike Motz’s clever cartoons-like illustrations enrich the fast moving rhyming cadence of the text. It also has an underlying message for every child to show respect for others, for their unique difference, gifts, and talents.

The point of this book is to teach the children of both respect and self-esteem. It is very important to put into their heads the idea that everyone is unique no matter their differences and disadvantages. This is partly connected to the positive thinking and the way to find something good in every man and situation. Kids should be taught from very young age that nobody is perfect and that there is no need to be ashamed or isolated because they are different (or someone thinks they are). This is necessary because, on one side, some children, on purpose or not, might be very mean by making fun and, on the other side, they should learn this lesson as well in order not to treat others this way. If anyone thinks they have such a flaw, this book will help them believe in themselves and turn it into their privilege.
In the form of rhymes and funny pictures, the author reaches easily the audience, setting an example and entertaining. This book is aimed at the young auditory but it is also suitable for all ages. It took only 10 minutes to read it and it could be used as a guide that reminds you that there is always another way.
The title itself “Same is Lame” is very rememberable and sounds like a motto that kids will use for sure. And hopefully they would stop copying everybody else and try being different and unique. I’m giving 4 stars because I feel that little more examples could be included.

Jimmy might be little in stature, but stands ten feet tall in his pride of his uniqueness. In "Little Jimmy Says, 'Same Is Lame'" Jimmy tells how and every person is different in some way, but that is okay because what makes us different also makes us unique individuals. If we will embrace our uniqueness we will become special in our own way and begin to see others as unique as well. He tells how very tall people can do things shorter people have trouble with. He even shows us that scars are okay too. If you have something special about you then be proud of it.
Told in rhyming verse "Little Jimmy Says, 'Same Is Lame'" captures the interest of young readers and the bold, vibrant illustrations bring the story to life. Sharing the story with young readers, give you a chance to share an important fact with them that they are perfect just as they are. Pick up a copy and enjoy the time you share talking about this fantastic story.
