Abby Wade has a dangerous secret.

Two months ago, she disobeyed an order, but instead of kicking her out of the Pride, Jace offered her a job. Since then, she's been battling a completely inappropriate crush on the young, hot Alpha. But when accepting his job offer seems like the only way to keep her skeletons safely in their closet, Abby doesn't hesitate.

Jace Hammond has a big problem.

A rogue is slaughtering humans in his territory, and he must eliminate the threat before the entire shifter species is exposed. There could not be a worse time for Abby to accept a job he only offered as a boost to her confidence. Abby is smart, beautiful, and resilient-more than enough to distract any man from the mission. Unfortunately, she may just be the worst enforcer ever to hold the title.

As they hunt the killer, Abby's secret becomes a threat to Jace's authority and to her own life. But the real danger is the grip she has on his twice-shy heart.

About the Author

Rachel Vincent is the author of many novels in five different series, for Mira Books, Harlequin Teen, and Random House. A former English teacher and an eager champion of the Oxford comma, Rachel shares her home in Oklahoma with two cats, two teenagers, and her husband, who's been her # 1 fan from the start. Rachel is older than she looks and younger than she feels, and she remains convinced that writing about the things that scare her is the cheapest form of therapy--but social media is a close second.

Absolutly amazing! I was always sad at how jace ended up at the end of alpha so this is a wonderful start to hopefully what will be a great series with him as a lead chacter. The first few chapters made me nastlgic for all the characters, especially of those who had passed. Vincent did an awesome job of showing how her characters grew up and matured more into their new roles and how the revolution influenced their characters years later. I hope she will continue writing the series because I can't wait to get my hands on the next!

Just finished reading this book and enjoyed it so much! I read the Shifter series when it came out and was so happy to see these charcters come back. The Shifter series is basically my favorite series of all and this spin off is just as good. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an exciting read with lots of action, suspense, romance with people who can shift into a deadly hunter. So excited to see what is next!

If you enjoyed Rachel Vincent's Shifters series, you will love Lion's Share. Jace and Abby have fantastic chemistry, and I was rooting for them from the very beginning. I loved getting a peek at how Faythe and the rest of the characters I love from Shifters are still breaking new ground.  If you haven't read the Shifters series yet, you'll still enjoy this steamy action-packed book - but it contains a lot of spoilers of the previous series. So do yourself a favor, pick up the entire Shifters series, then the short story Hunt, and then Lion's Den. You'll be hooked after the first chapter. I'm looking forward to even more books in this new spinoff Wildcats series!

This is amazing! I have been waiting for years with hope that Rachel Vincent would bring back her shifters and finally give Jace his happy. I fell in love with the original series years ago and am beyond elated that they're back. If you haven't read the series where it all started do so. You will not be disappointed.

It was so awesome to re-visit these characters and see what they've been up to. As the Pride series is one of my favorites, I enjoyed re-connecting with everyone. Hoping there are many more to come! But would love to see a little more of Marc and Faythe.

I really enjoyed Rachel Vincent’s urban fantasy series, Shifters, and was so excited to see that not only did Jace get a story, but Abby does as well. I feel like, even though this is a spin-off series, it’s best to read Shifters before diving into the Wildcats series. Mainly because there is so much world building in the previous series that is a bit lacking in Lion’s Share. Plus, Jace plays a huge role in the previous series and he goes through a lot of stuff in that series. Actually, so does Abby. So, I really advise you to read the previous series before jumping in to Lion’s Share. Since this is a paranormal romance and not an urban fantasy, things move rather quickly in the story and not everything/everyone is as fleshed out as you would expect them to be. However, since I was already well acquainted with the vast majority of characters in Lion’s Share, I didn’t need a lot of character development. It has been a handful of years since I finished the series, and I will admit that when the gang all gets together in the beginning, I felt a bit lost. I had forgotten everyone’s stories and all the little nuances that took place in the previous series. So, I could see that being an issue for someone who is completely new to the world the author created. While Abby definitely has some growing to do, I mean, she’s only 21 years old, I felt like she handled herself really well. She seemed both immature and mature at the same time. I don’t know how that is at all possible but she managed to pull it off. I really liked that she wasn’t afraid to fight for what she wanted, however sometimes the way she went about it wasn’t always the most productive solution. Regardless, I really admired her and all the things she managed to pull off in this book. Jace, oh man, I felt SO BAD for him at the end of the Shifters series. So I was over the moon when I found out he was getting his own book with a HEA. I felt like the dude deserved it. And in all honesty, I can’t picture anyone better suited for him than Abby. He’s the temporary Alpha of his territory but when it comes to Abby, it’s not that he can’t say no to her, it’s that she outmaneuvers him and spars with him so much that he ends up getting backed into a corner. The best part about it though is that considering he’s an Alpha, he should be puffing out his chest and gets all angry but instead Jace just kind of shakes his head and follows her. I loved the two of them together. I think Wildcats is a great series for all the Shifter fans to be able to live in the world a bit longer. I mean, things were resolved in Alpha… but not really. I like that we are slowly going to be able to see other get HEA’s and I can’t wait to see who gets paired off next. *One thing I recommend is reading the free novella, Hunt, before starting Lion’s Share. What happens in Hunt is kind of the catalyst for Lion’s Share.

Lion's Share is book one in the Wildcats series. This series is a spinoff from Rachel Vincent's Shifters series. I loved the Shifters series, so knew I had to get this book when it came out. One of the young tabbies that were introduced to us in the Shifter series is the leading lady in Lion's Share. There is a free novella (Hunt) that starts this series if you're interested, I suggest grabbing it before you read this one since the events in it lead up directly to this book. Abby Wade is your typical college girl, with the twist that she's one of the few tabbies in a shifter pack. When her pack leader, Jace Hammond, comes to get her for the break, she has to go. There have been some issues nearby them and they have to investigate. A rogue shifter (not part of the pack) is killing humans and leaving their bodies to be found. It's not good and puts the shifters on edge since it could expose them. Their investigation just leads to more issues and danger. On top of that, I knew Abby was hiding something but couldn't guess what until it was revealed. I love when the author does that and it's not out of left field. Lion's Share has everything I could ask for in a paranormal romance, shifters, some romance, and mystery. I was so happy to get to revisit the Shifters world and I hope there are several more books in this series. Both of the leading characters were ones I was excited to see. Jace Hammond was one of my favorites so I was doing a happy dance when I saw he was the pack leader in this one! Abby has been dealing with traumatic events that happened years back that still affect her. It was nice to see how her character was years later. Though not required, I'd suggest you read the Shifter series before this series and I'd strongly recommend the novella I mentioned earlier since it's referred to several times. That being said, if you're a fan of the Shifters series, I think you'll love this spinoff!

OH MY STARS!!! I'm actually kind of speechless. Rachel Vincent managed to write another phenomenal installment set in the shifter world that I absolutely LOVED! The mystery and intrigue in the plot was well written and climaxed with perfect execution. I don't think she could have done a better job writing Abby and Jace's story. I always loved Jace! I was actually on team Jace in the original series. He's just written so yummy. After reading The Hunt, I really got a chance to see Abby as a more fleshed out character. Before, she was a minor character, so I didn't have much invested in her. The more I read about her, the more fabulous she became. There was a love triangle, but it was resolved with a deeply satisfying conclusion about halfway through the book. The romance was hot as well. There were a few sexy scenes :) I can't say much more, other than say how awesome of a writer Rachel Vincent is. I really can't wait for the next installment in this series. I wish she would write faster so I could have me little piece of happy to read. Good books always go by to fast! This gets more stars than I usually give. I mean, it was EPIC! Ten glittery stars for another great Wildcats book!

I was delighted to be back in Rachel Vincent's "Shifter World". While I thoroughly enjoyed the Shifter Series, the new Wildcats series has already blown my mind and expectations out the door! Lion's Share was way more than anticipated and I can't wait for more!

There are no words to describe my emotional outburst when I saw that Rachel Vincent was continuing her Shifter’s series with an independent published Wildcats series. The Shifter Series was the very first books I had ever read by Vincent. It was literally my first series binge read. I had such a book hangover after I devoured the 6 books in the series that I hoped that she’d pick up the story in more books down the line. I GOT MY WISH! While the wildcat series focuses on another kickass Tabby, Abby Wade, many familiar characters make appearances including Faythe and Marc. Yet for me as a Shifter’s fan, the best part about this debut series novel was the sheer fact that Jace was still a main character. While I was team Marc in the Shifters books all the way, I couldn’t help, but feel that I needed a conclusion to Jace’s story. His rise to alpha-dom was far from conventional I knew there was more to his story. Vincent gives us a delicious preview as to what’s to come with Jace that Shifters man will devour.  Abby Wade is much like Faythe. She’s been hunted her entire life being a rare tabby in the shifter world. These tabbies are prized possessions and they should be treated as such. But, with rarity, comes the need to seize opportunities and claim these tabbies for themselves. Faythe and Abby both have been held captive only to escape. Abby has had to work through her nightmares and pain of her imprisonment. She has issues with being touched by a male even with her fiancé of four years. She bought herself some time before she became the baby making machine for her pride with going to college, but times up. Abby comes back from college deeply hidden secrets as well as indecision about her marriage. To say the least Abby is a mess.  As you can probably tell from my excitement over this book at the beginning of the review, I loved Lion’s Share. Vincent has delivered with dynamic new and old characters for the series. The will they/won’t they romance factor was handled in the very first book which I will admit I liked with the main plot of the series. By doing this, the future books can focus more on the Lion’s Den more than the romance drama.  I would highly recommend this book for any Rachel Vincent fan or paranormal book lover. I would suggest at least reading the prequel novella Hunt before starting if you have not read the Shifter Series Books.
