Overview

With the lies of the past behind her, Addie finds love . . . and discovers her true Father.

Addie Sullivan leads a quiet life in a northern California lighthouse. She mourns the death of her father and endures her mother's bitterness, until the night a storm brings an injured stranger and a dark secret to her home. The man insists she is not who she thinks she is, but rather "Julia Eaton"—the child long lost and feared dead by her wealthy family. Seizing the chance to be reunited with the
Eatons, Addie leaves her lighthouse home but decides to keep her true identity a secret until they can unravel the mystery.

Addie loves the Eatons' palatial home tucked away among the California redwood forests. She feels secure with the jovial family, adores the young boy who is her charge as governess, and finds romance with his father John, a young widower. But sinister shadows overtake Addie's joy. As dusty rooms and secret compartments give up their clues about her past, Addie finds a faith and a love she could never have guessed. To embrace this new world of promise is to risk her life; but to run away is to risk losing the greatest love she's ever known.

For a ten dollar book on my Nook, there are an insane amount of typos and repeated sentences. Story is good, but very distracted by errors.

Addie Sullivan is content with her life at the lighthouse. She misses her father who is deceased and has a strained relationship with her mother. One day a wounded fellow shows up at the lighthouse. As Addie tends his wounds he spots her locket and realizes exactly who she is. Julia Eaton, the missing daughter of Henry and Laura Eaton. He insists that she return to the Eaton Estate with him to act as a governess to his nephew Edward while he tries to convince Henry that Addie is really Julia. When she arrives at the Eaton Estate she meets John North (Edward's father). They are immediately attracted to one another. Then there's an attempt made on her life and she finds some secret messages that lead her on a merry chase that doesn't let up until the end of the book.I thoroughly enjoyed this intriguing tale. The cover of the book is beautiful and made me want to seek the adventure inside! The characters in the story came across as very real to me. I loved Addie's personality. She was a no nonsense kinda gal who clung to her faith. But what will happen when that faith is tested? John was a great hero. He was kind, gentle and loved his son. There was a very real chemistry between him and Addie. The whole mystery surrounding the story was great and you really don't figure it out until the very end, which I love. If you like romance, mystery and suspense you will love this story.

Very romantic and wonderfully engaging story with a dreamy hero and strong heroine. I loved the romance. This was not a one kiss at the end book. And the mystery element was great!

Addie Sullivan has been raised in California with her "parents" caring for a lighthouse. Then one night a storm brings an injured man to their door and shares a secret that changes Addie's life completely. She is really a long lost child who was thought drowned many years ago. Now she has the opportunity to be reunited with her real family, the Eatons. But someone doesn't want Addie to be found. When Addie becomes a governess for young Edward she soon falls in love with his father, John. Without giving any more of the story away, I must say this story had me guessing most of the way through as to who wanted Addie out of the way and who truly was glad to have Addie in the family. It was a really good mystery with some lovely romance thrown in also. I loved Addie and how she just said what she felt and didn't try to put on airs or act a certain way because society expected it of her. She was a great character in the story. I also loved her dog, Gideon!!

I am on about page 125 of this book and it is a great read. BUT the Nook book version is a mess. Pages are missing and in incorrect order. I archived and re-downloaded the book but there are still issues. Beware. Very frustrating!

The Lightkeeper's Daughter is Outstanding! There is not one negative I can mention. The character development is flawless, best I have seen in a book yet. There is a sweet romance and a great mystery that unfolds. You will be in suspense chapter by chapter. Also a great christian influence. This is the first Colleen Coble book I have read but certainly not the last! Many more are already on my wish list! Must read!

Review: I love lighthouses so I was drawn to the cover and the location immediately. I enjoyed the characters and the plot. That ‘what if…’ idea is always a fun idea to explore. I liked Addie and her compassion on the woman who raised her. It had great twists and turns that made for and exciting read with some whimsy that made for better fiction within some of those twists. I enjoy Colleen Coble’s writing very much. I can get to the nail biting parts where I am hesitant to see where this turn will take me in the story and am always delighted with the outcome. The background characters were fun and made me struggle to think of who will be the next main characters in this great trilogy.

I have just started to read Colleen's books. I have enjoyed her characters. Then in about the last 75-100 pages the mystery starts to unravel & you can not put the book down.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Once I began it, I could not put it down. The mystery was well wound and kept me raptured. I was taken by the main characters and was somewhat surprised in the end. I did not know who to trust but found the different characters reactions to different life experiences insightful. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good clean historical romance. I will read more from this author.
