Overview

Sixteen years ago, rebellion swept the galaxy known as the Belt of Jewels.

Every member of the Leonov royal family was murdered--down to their youngest child, Princess Anya--making way for the Union government to seize power.

But Stacia doesn't think much about politics. She spends her days half-wild, rambling her father's vineyard with her friends, Clio and Pol. That all changes when a Union ship appears burning through the sky, bearing the leader of the Union, the Direktor Eminent himself, who declares that Stacia's sleepy village is a den of empire loyalists. Even more shocking, the Direktor claims that Princess Anya Leonova is alive--and Stacia is the lost princess

As their home explodes into chaos, Pol smuggles Stacia to a hidden escape ship, leaving Clio in the hands of the Union. With everything she knows threading away into the stars, Stacia sets her heart on a single mission:

She will find and rescue Clio, even with the whole galaxy on her trail.

Have you ever wondered how humanity would live if we traveled to other planets? We may evolve to adapt to our new surroundings, spread ourselves across multiple planets, and form a new government. In the book Last of Her Name, the previous Leonov Empire has been overthrown by the Union, and the entire royal family was killed, or so the Union says. Stacia Androva doesn’t question the Union, as she’d rather hang out with her best friends, Clio and Pol, than focus on politics. But when the Union comes to her planet of Amethyne and claims that she is the lost princess Anya, her life is turned upside down as she tries to avoid the Union’s grasp and save her friends and family from them in the process. This book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys action, suspense, and the unbreakable bond between two friends. Reviewed by: Lucas D.C., Age: 13, Connecticut Mensa

Last of Her Name follows Stacia Androva as she finds out the truth of her heritage and runs away from the revelation across her galaxy (wonderfully named the Belt of Jewels) with Pol, one of her best friends. But when Stacia realizes Clio, her other best friend, has been taken by the Union and its violent leader, Alexi Volkov, her only thought is to save Clio, no matter the cost. While I liked this book, there were a few issues I had with it that kept me from truly loving it. I couldn’t find myself connecting with the characters, the writing was fairly simple, and parts of the ending felt to easy and fast. While the world building isn’t the most in depth that I’ve ever read, I still loved it and would enjoy more stories set in the universe. I think that a lot of people will really like this book, but it never quite connected for me. I was talking to a friend about this book the other day and I described it as a good palate cleanser book between heavy fantasy novels. I hope that doesn’t come off in a negative way, but that’s just what this book was for me. The book was fun and it never took too much from me to read. Some books demand your soul, but Last of Her Name asks you to just relax and come along for the ride. This book was sent to me by the publisher at my request. The decision to review this book was entirely my own. All thoughts and opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.
