How do you keep yourself in the love of God?
The text does not mean it is possible for us to get in a condition where God no longer loves us. It is impossible to go beyond the limits of His love. I remind you of the teachings of Romans 8:35-39 where an answer is given to the question, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?" The answer is that nothing which happens to the body can separate us. In tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril or sword, "we are more than conquerors through him that love us." On the other hand, there are no spiritual powers which can take us beyond the love of God. "Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Therefore, to keep yourself in the love of God does not mean you must behave in such a way as to keep God loving you. Learn how here.
