Overview

The ten-track J'ouvert is a prelude to the full-length Carnival III -- Wyclef Jean's long-awaited first proper album since 2009 -- which has been primed to synchronize with the 20th anniversary of his solo debut. This rounds up several tracks Wyclef released previously as singles, including the reggaeton-pop tune "I Swear," featuring Young Thug, the trap-inspired "Hendrix," and the melancholy but optimistic "Life Matters." Most of the material is brand new. Wyclef's approach remains uniquely diverse with contemporary Caribbean sounds meshed throughout.
