Razor-edge suspense in this original eBook short story from “one of the most versatile voices in thriller fiction today” (The Providence Journal)
It should have been a night to remember, but Maura Isles can’t recall a thing.
Maura is longing to ditch a ritzy cocktail party, along with her four-inch heels, when a handsome, charming stranger appears. But somewhere between sipping a fresh glass of champagne and waking up the next day on her sofa lies a black hole of forgotten time. As Boston’s medical examiner, Maura regularly teams up with police detective Jane Rizzoli on homicide investigations, and Jane’s latest case makes Maura’s blood run cold. A brutally murdered man has been found in a city park with Maura’s address tucked in his pocket. Maura IDs the victim as the charmer she met at the party. Her alarm turns to terror when she learns the murdered man was a predator with victims of his own. Fearing she may be guilty of a lethal crime she can’t recall, Maura races to recover the missing hours that hold the truth—and that hide a shocking secret.
Includes an excerpt from Tess Gerritsen’s Rizzoli & Isles novel Last to Die.

It's an original e-SHORT story. It says so in the description, and the product details specify that it's 40 pages long. At $1.99 it would be hard to misjudge this as a book. $1.99 is less than you'd pay for a latte at Starbucks.

From Mr. Grumpy, let it be noted this is a short story ... and wow! What a good one. Tess manages to get the crucial data in this short story which is full of suspense and tension. I suppose it works on a different level because it follows in a series where we already know the main characters so Tess doesn't need to establish who they are again. It gives her a lot more freedom to explore a different side of the characters and a different side of the crimes Maura must endure.

This is a wonderful short story but If you are not familiar with the Rizzoli and Isles book series I wouldn't start here. Go back and start with the Surgeon and see how Jane and Maura grow thru the 9 novels. However, this is a treat for fans of the series that could use a little R&I fix while waiting for the next full length novel (Last to Die). Seems like more and more authors are doing these ebook only shorts that tie into their series. I LOVE it and hope Tess will give us more in the future.

Extremely short, but good. Note, it says short on the book cover, not in the review. I like this series.

Finally, it's like I came back from the Valley Of the Dead. Where is everyone? They're not on Hunger Games and Twilight that's for sure. Btw, my name is Isabella-Bella for short.
