About the Author

Cindi Smith wrote Ivy Millicent Learns About Diabetes because one of her sons has had Type 1 diabetes since the age of nine, and there were no books to help her son understand it in a story form. So, it was up to Cindi to teach her family not to fear and to live life to the fullest and not to set limits on what you can or can't do. With encouragement from his family, her son travels the world to backpack, ride mountain bikes, and go rock climbing.
Cindi has sixteen years' experience as an Occupational Therapist. She graduated from Midwestern University, Glendale, Arizona. Married for thirty-one years, she is the mother of three grown boys with disabilities. She's taught them that disability doesn't equal handicap. Cindi encourages her boys to go outside their comfort zone, push boundaries, and gain self-confidence.
