This book was a wonderful surprise the first time I came across it. Its colourful illustrations and extended version of this nursery rhyme delights and entertains. I bought it first to share with my young daughter and then for my school library.

Whether it's climbing up a spout, a kitchen wall, a pail or up a rocking chair, "The Itsy Bitsy Spider is knocked down and keeps getting up. This one little spider is determined not to give up! This book is a great sing-along for toddlers and pre-schoolers, they will get a kick out of hearing about all the adventures this one spider endures. The children can make spiders and spider webs, or draw/color pictures to go along with the story.

Summary:This is the story of an itsy bitsy spider who keeps finding itself in all different kinds of situations. Everytime the spider tries to climb up something it is immediately knocked down. No matter how many times the spider is knocked down it always climbs right back up. Personal Reaction:I have always heard this story as a nursery rhyme so it was cool to see it illustrated in a book. I enjoyed the added on story to the traditional rhyme I grew up hearing. Classroom Extension Ideas:1. This would be a fun book to read with a younger classoom. I would teach the class the nursery rhyme then read them this book. 2. Each page in this book has the spider going through a different situation or task. I would love to have my class draw pictures of the different pages of the book.

Summary: This book has illustrations that match the song The Itsy Bitsy Spider. It tells how the spider climbs up things, gets knocked off, and tries again. It tells the whole story which includes six different adventures. Personal Thoughts: I loved reading this book. The illustrations are beautiful and shiny. I had never heard the entire song, so i like that this book tells it all. Classroom ideas:1. This would be a great book for activity time. The children could sing together and do the hand motions.2. I would have the children draw illustrations to match another song they know.

Hard to maintain grandson's interest....pictures are too cluttered and verse is too.

This is the perfect book for kindergarten children to learn. Even the most basic of stories open their little minds to the world of humanity and its wonders of story telling.

My daughter loved this book when she was about 3 years old. It has given to her as a gift. We had to read it almost everynight and sometimes 2 or3 times in a row. When she got older, however, I gave it a way to a friend because she had a little boy. Now, I have a 15 month old son and am going to buy it for him. He loves to sing the song and tries to do the hand signs. I just know he will love this book too.

I saw this book in a clearance bin while shopping, I picked it up since it was always a favorite. Little did I know that it would be a hit with my 2 year old class. I have one student who has me read it to her every single day. Now I am ordering it just for her, since it seems to be her favorite too!!
