Author Biography: Garth Massey is Professor of Sociology and Director of International Studies at the University of Wyoming. Interested primarily in political economy and social change, he is currently working in the area of ethnic conflict. His interests in comparative sociology have allowed him to live and do research in Eastern Europe, East Africa, Australia and the Middle East.
