Saw this book listed for free, was pleasantly surprised. Well written, the story had a great flow that wasn't forced or too predictable. Nice length, especially for free, I have already bought the sequel. My opinion, some of the sex scenes ended abruptly, or seemed rushed, but wasn't awkward or forced at least.

From start to finish I found myself fully into in the sweet and sexy relationship, the extremely likable hero's friend, and the emotional baggage both of the lead characters carry makes them easy to relate to. From the moment they meet the sexual tension between them crackles and a fun-filled and sexy journey begins where he teaches her to enjoy life instead of hiding from it. Ally is a strong-willed woman who seems to be wound a little tight and I enjoyed Jack's attempts at getting her to lighten up. I wish she hadn't been so forgiving of her mother's early acts though. That’s just my opinion! Jack is the kind of man you can't help but be drawn to despite his lack of commitment. He's sexy, charming, and tells it like it is. He has such confident nature that I hated seeing him manipulated by his ex and found her presence just awful. This story was great and seemed very balanced. The sexual parts were flirty and sexy both in and out of the bedroom, YUMMY! The connection between Jack and Ally kept me fully immersed in the story even though there were a few parts towards the end that seemed a bit melodramatic. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book, since we got a couple of glimpses of Randy. I love the gruff, sexy kind of guy! *I received a complimentary copy of the book from Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

I really enjoyed this book. There was some great action and suspense throughout.  Ally is a good girl accountant. When she caught her boyfriend and her best friend together, she was mortified. Going to the club, Felony, Jack is the bartender. He represents everything that was missing in her life; spontaneity, promiscuity and adventure.  They both have had an eye on each other. Can Ally let down her guard and be a little wild? Can Jack quit being quite so wild and be more monogamous?  Will each of their pasts tear them apart before they even get started?

I really enjoyed Intoxicated. Rather than the typical story of the good girl who sets out to reform the bad boy and succeeding in it, we get the good girl who decides to finally “let go” one night and enjoy the bad boy, knowing that there will be no repeat performance, no strings, and no future. But what made it interesting is that the bad boy gets addicted to the good girl and finds himself wanting to change his ways for her. While the second scenario is the rarer of the two (at least in my reading repertoire) it is now new but Ms. Mann makes it her own by the obstacles that Ally and Jack must overcome if they really want to make it work. One of the things that I really enjoyed about Intoxicated was the believability of the characters. After breaking up with her boyfriend of eight years, Ally decides to indulge in her guilty pleasure of Jack-watching and heads to Felony to get well beyond drunk. She’s hoping that between the alcohol, Jack, and the entertainment provided by the never-ending supply of flirty women occupying Jack’s Seat of Shame, that she can erase the memory of finding out her fiancé was sleeping with her best friend. When Ally’s exes show up at Felony, it takes everything she has not to hightail it out of there. But Jack steps in, offering her a chance to make the exes jealous and drags her to the back. Despite the generous amount of alcohol she consumed, Ally can’t fight her inner good girl and tells Jack no. But knowing that she is single and the way she responds, Jack knows he’s got to have more than just that taste of Ally. Because he’s not a relationship kind of guy, Jack’s not used to be the pursuer and when he finally gets a second chance with Ally it is hot. Jack realizes that once is not enough and he keeps after her until they begin dating in earnest.  Thus begins the trip through the minefields of Jack’s life – and Ally’s to a lesser extent – as they start building a relationship. It is Jack’s plethora of problems that makes the book engaging, as well as a truly enjoyable cast of characters. Intoxicated is chock full of scenes that made me laugh, tear up, smile, get angry, squirm, and hope – hope that the Ally and Jack would survive Hurricane Chelsea. I’m looking forward to reading Karly and Randy’s story next in Unexpected.

I love when a debut author jumps right out of the gate with such a memorable and entertaining story as Intoxicated is by Ms. Mann. From start to finish I found myself fully immersed in the main character's sweet and sexy relationship, the immensely likable hero's friend, and the intense emotional baggage both of the lead characters carry that makes them easy to relate to.In fact, I'm already anticipating the next installment in this series and I just finished this one! From an early age Ally has always felt lacking. From her average size to her serious nature she's always tried to be the good girl so that she'll be successful in someone's eyes. After discovering her fiancée of eight years cheating on her she decides she's had enough of being good as it's left her nothing but lonely with self-esteem issues brought on by her recent ex.Taking a walk on the wild side leads her to the grungy bar Felony and the super sexy and charming bad boy Jack. From the moment they meet the sexual tension between them crackles and a fun-filled and sexy journey commences where he teaches her to enjoy life instead of hiding from it.It's not an easy journey though as his past is full of emotional clutter and her self-esteem issues have her doubting Jack's every word and deed.Ally is a strong-willed woman wound very tightly and I enjoyed Jack's attempts at getting her to lighten up.She's charmed by him but not naive of his past of one-night stands.I enjoyed seeing her evolution of empowerment at the hands of Jack but wish she hadn't been so forgiving of her mother's early acts as they set Ally on her path of low self-esteem. Jack is the kind of man you can't help but be drawn to despite his lack of commitment. He's sexy, charming, and tells it like it is.Until recently he's been content with his one-night stands but now his life feels lacking and he's tired of meaningless encounters with women who offer no challenge.Seeing Ally pushes all his buttons though and he makes it his mission to claim her and show her all the pleasures of life. He's drawn to her as she makes him work to spend time with her, he's drawn to her honesty and her inner strength and the journey he undertakes to win her is both sweet and sexy.He says all the naughty things she longs to her which had me enjoying their interludes immensely. He has emotional baggage too though and a past of drugs and a manipulative ex who constantly invades his life stirring up trouble manipulating him for money and attempting to drag him back into the past. With such a confident nature I hated seeing him manipulated by his ex and found her presence a huge intrusion.Ultimately Jack is a good man at heart who's finally matured and knows that he wants someone of substance and his interactions with Ally were a delight to see. This was an entertaining start to the Felony series revolving around a grungy bar and the people who work there. This story nicely balanced the romance and intense emotions to allow for character growth. The sexual interludes were flirty and sexy both in and out of the bedroom to satisfy fans of the erotic. One or two events felt a bit disjointed amongst the overall storyline and felt a bit overly melodramatic late in the story but the connection between Jack and Ally kept me fully immersed in the story. With the glimpses we got of Jack's friend Randy I'm greatly anticipating the next installment as his gruff yet sexy exterior completely won me over. Those looking for fun will find it here!
