Life is never easy but when her family is killed by a serial killer - one who is never caught - it becomes impossible.

As she grows up, Tavi works to appear normal while hiding in law enforcement, determined to get answers and if she can - extract revenge.

Jericho is a hunter. Now he's caught the scent of an old prey, a serial killer he's been one step behind the whole way. Then
Jericho catches wind of the killer's next victim... Which is none other than a detective with a little too impressive track record for getting her man.

Only she wants nothing to do with him. Or his protection. And he can't leave her alone...

Sparks fly from the first meet - in more ways than one.

But when energy flares it also attracts. And the killer realizes he can kill two enemies in one swoop. He's cleaning up. Turning a new leaf.

And wants no one left alive who can stop him...

I like this series but sometimes it is confusing to me. The endings seem to come from almost nowhere and very quickly.

I have all of Dale Mayer's books and was very happy to have a new one to read. Unfortunately this book reads like a first draft. The story has a lot of potential, but there are some glaring mistakes, assumptions, lack of continuity, non-sequitors, contradictions, un-founded conclusions and other issues that make it hard to read. It had potential. Makes me think the editor, if there was one, was not on the job. I'm trying to read it anyway but the errors are very distracting, the POV switches without warning and you have to page back and reread when things start to not make sense because you missed the pov switch, characters arrive at conclusions out of nowhere, etc. Its too bad.

I've read a few of the psychic visions novels, but this is the first one that has had so many twist and turns in it. Tavi was rescued with everyone else in her family was murdered. She spent years straightening out her life and become coming a detective. She knew she had some psychic talent but had always kept it close, kept it hidden as much as possible. But now the murder is back and Tavi knows her time is up. Her only hope is that she takes him with her. Jericho has been following the Ghost for years, trying to catch him. Unfortunately his visions of the future haven't enabled him to find abd capture him. Now the visions show him something has changed and the Ghost is after Tavi. But Tavi doesn't want to listen to that, so he is left with little choice but to protect her anyway. Besides his visions tell him they end up in bed together and he can't wait. Can Jericho and Tavi catch the Ghost, while they look for a kidnapped little girl and try to solve the murder of another teenage girl? Or will the Ghost taken them all down?

4.5 I really loved this book. Into the Abyss is the 10th book in the Psychic Visions series. Psychic Visions is my favorite series by Mayer, but the last few books too seemed to be missing something for me. However, Into The Abyss was a definite home run for me. I really liked the slower build of Tavi and Jericho's relationship. I also liked that, while Stephan made an appearance he played a much more peripheral role. Tavi is a strong heroine, who has been hiding her ability since she was a child, when her family was murdered. This is a fast paced, suspenseful novel, that will keep you guessing. I think it can be read as a stand alone. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of Into the Abyss.

Into the Abyss by Dale Mayer Psychic Visions Series Book Ten Tavika Bantrell tries to hide what she is, a psychic. Sure it comes in handy with her detective work...but no one knows. And then he shows up at her desk. A man who is psychic too. He gets in her thoughts...and more...and delivers the message of a murder. Hers. Jericho Sands has a mission. To help save the detective's life. Not easy when she doesn't want his help—or protection. She may be a loner, but he will be inserting himself into her life until the Ghost is caught. It's hard to find a murderer who has been going strong for twenty years without leaving a trace of evidence—except dead bodies—in his wake. They've given him the name Ghost and Tavika and Jericho hope to end his hauntings. **Sensual content and language

Wow, this series just keeps getting better with each new addition. If you are a fan of Ms. Mayer you know she writes stories that not only entertain but captivate you right from the start. Awesome character's pave the way for a complex suspense storyline that is sure to keep you on your toes. While there is a romance it is not the main focus of the storyline. It seemed to me that the underlying themes was facing your fears, believing in yourself and accepting who you are. As the tale develops we see things from more than one perspective, the killer, Tavi and Jericho. While Tavi and Jericho search for our allusive bad guy, he in turn is watching them keeping the reader engaged in trying to figure out who he is before our main characters do. The overlapping of characters from previous books keeps the connection strong enforcing that sometimes having others to rely on is a good thing. The author throws in several twists and turns enhancing the plot and leaving you revising your judgement on who is the guilty party. This is definitely a page turner, so if you are like me and have to finish what you start reading leave plenty of time as once you start you will not be able to put it down. I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion, 5 stars all the way.
