Gr 5-8- Short, easy-to-read introductions. The format and full-color photographs may entice students to pick up the books and peruse them. There is at least one picture in each title that carries through the "disgusting" theme, such as a close-up of black lesions from Kaposi's sarcoma (Inhalant Abuse ). Crystal Meth explains the physical, mental, and social damage to users. Rich Mintzer's Meth and Speed=Busted! (Enslow, 2005) offers similar information. The second title describes the different types of downers, dangers of abuse, and treatment. The third book covers the history and variety of inhalants, immediate and long-term damage, the social and mental effects of addiction, and getting help. Sean Connolly's Inhalants (Heinemann Library, 2002) has similar information at a slightly higher reading level.
