About the Author

William H. Miller, known as “Little Bill”, owing to his small stature, was a former athlete and coach of champion national Athletic Amateur Union (AAU) basketball teams, including the Tulsa D-X Oilers in 1933 and 1934. Miller went on to devote his full time to promoting his own system of body control through rhythm and relaxation, having devised what became known as the “Miller Method.”

“Little Bill,” whom The Titusville Herald once described as having “more pep and vitality than a barrel of monkeys and can give demonstrations of his theories which will make your eyes blink,” utilized his relaxation technique on all kinds of athletes, male and female, that he worked with—from basketball to football to golf to running.

Known for putting teams through a full week’s training course in his scientific body control, stressing relaxation and body flow, his scientific body control system became so successful that it was credited with putting “the [Tulsa football team] boys” in such physical and mental condition that they could concentrate on the game. In fact, in 1942 the Tulsa football team was even reportedly free from injuries following their use of “Miller’s Method”!
