The principles defined in this book are simple and effective. It has been so hard for me to hold others accountable for their mistakes and get positive feedback. By reading this book I have learned how to do so, but holding them accountable the positive principled way! I consider myself lucky to have been given the chance to read this book. It will be incredibly beneficial for everyone. So many of us struggle with holding others accountable, but this book teaches us how to become more focused and understanding co-workers. The release of this book is exciting because of the simple principles it so clearly defines.

Most business books I read offer one celebrity author's personal experience and, at best, one excellent idea. This book does so much more, it requires careful and patient reading, with a highlighter in hand. I've already found several of the authors' tools useful in my daily work, especially when I am facing a tight deadline on a major goal. Accountability can easily be misused and end up making people feel overmanaged, overcontrolled and overpunished for mistakes. The book's emphasis on the "positive, principled" approach gets far better results.

"Got to have it" for anyone leading change! I have worked with Tom Smith and the Partners in Leadership organization since early 2004 as part of a "leading change" initiative at our plant. The concepts and tools from the earlier books, "The Oz Principle" and in particular "Journey to the Emerald City", have been instrumental in making our business case for change "visual" and emphasizing not only the "what" which is achieve results, but the "how" by engaging people through "intentional experiences." Tom and Roger's new book "How Did That Happen" provides the concepts and tools to close the gap on what it looks like to be "accountable." As with any change initiative, the actions have to start with me and the self-assessments are simple yet powerful. I am convinced that Roger Connors and Tom Smith are ahead of the game when it comes to accountability. Their first two books were excellent and this one is sure to be just as good if not better. Although I have not been able to read the book yet, I have already pre-ordered my copy and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. If it is anything like the first two books, "The Oz Principle," and "Journey to the Emerald City," it is sure to be a success. The principles of accountability taught by the authors produce results, how do I know? Because I have experienced the amazing results myself. I can't wait to learn the concepts of holding people accountable for results the positive, principled way!

If this book is anything like its predecessors "The Oz Principle," and "Journey to the Emerald City," then I am in for a treat. I was thrilled to see that Connors and Smith were coming out with another book on accountability. I have been hooked ever since The Oz Principle and am looking forward to learning more about accountability.
