This is an excellent sequel: characters are consistent with the first book, yet show clear, believable, and gripping development. Mr. Correia's plotting, and writing make him a contender for modern sci-fi/fantasy master. He treats politics as part of the background of the setting, secondary to the characters and the story. This series is also a thoughtful and believable exploration of a "religion-less" society. (There are some minor technical or editting issues with the text, in Nook ebook form.)
