Officially, Hope -- Susan Boyle's sixth album since 2009, every record appearing in time for the holiday season like clockwork -- is her first non-thematic album since 2011's Someone to Watch Over Me, but in broad terms every one of Boyle's records feels the same and this 2014 set is no exception. Relying heavily on the pop standards of the '60s and early '70s with the comparatively recent cover of Sarah McLachlan's "Angel" and Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" offered as spice, Hope is cut from the same cloth as its predecessors: it's nothing but songs that have been handed down through the generations via variety shows, all arranged not to offend. This has been Boyle's modus operandi since I Dreamed a Dream but Hope, like Standing Ovation: The Greatest Songs from the Stage and Home for Christmas, benefits from the absence of her original producer Steve Mac, who gave her original album a chilly somnolence. Hope still is in danger of dragging due to its stateliness but the surroundings are warmer, which is not only a better fit for Boyle's voice but also means the record comes closer to providing a comforting bath of familiarity. By design, there are no surprises in either the songs or arrangements on Hope, but the execution is precise and professional and Boyle and her fans both benefit from this shift in tone.

Susan Boyle's album Hope does indeed create a feeling of inspiration and hope.  It weaves together seamlessly modern classics with well-known hymns and traditional songs which make our hearts and spirits soar along with Susan Boyle's incomparable voice. I cannot think of another singer who can handle such a diverse repertoire with such splendid results.   Susan Boyle is fearless in taking on some iconic songs long associated with certain major artists, but rather than trying to imitate  them she gives each song her own unique vocal treatment and the result is a masterpiece. I've listened to the album many times already and will treasure it for many years to come.

She has such a gorgeous voice and can sing just about anything, from the sublime to the powerful. I really like this CD, it has a very unusual track list and is inspirational as well as beautiful with a little bit of fun thrown in.

Hope is Susan Boyle's 6th album and another fantastic CD that you will want to add to your collection. Susan, who has one of the most  amazing voices of our time, has done it again. Hope is a brilliant work of art: a masterpiece! It's like a collage of bright colors in a beautiful painting. It is evident that every song was carefully arranged to produced such beautiful music. Susan sang each one with such passion. You can hear Susan's crystal clear voice and feel the emotion in each and every word she sang. Stunning! Hope would be a great keepsake Christmas gift for your family members, as well as your friends. It will touch their hearts, as it has touched mine.  I would like to suggest that you buy all of Susan's CDs if you would like to hear beautiful, soothing, exciting music. She does it all! Every single CD is wonderful! I play her songs all day, every day. Most outstanding singer I have  ever heard and I have been around a very, very long time. Amazing CDs! You will love them! Congratulations, Ms. Susan Boyle!  Well done!  Graysea Comment Comment | Permalink

I have listened to Susan Boyle's latest album Hope many times since I have received it, and I like it more every time I hear it. Her voice has power, perfect pitch, and a sweet purity on the high notes. Many of the songs have a religious overtone, and although I don't usually listen to that genre, I enjoy this album because it is Susan''s voice and personality that make every song special. Although I listen to many types of music, I find myself pulling out her CD over and over., and never tire of listening to her beautiful voice.
