Emma Jackson, a student at Northern Highlands Regional High School, is also a black belt in karate. She lives in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, with her mom, her dad, and the most recent addition to the family—her dog, Dixie.

Great book for families thinking about adopting a dog. Tells a great story with excellent photography showing the other options for getting a pet, instead of the Pet Store. It had meaning and portrayed the love of animals. The pictures really helped bring the story to life, plus it is a true story.
