Returning from a stint as part of a task force on violent crime, Randy Detweiler is eager to reunite with Sarah Tucker in Pine Hills, but she's having second thoughts about their relationship. Can she deal with a cop who gets called away at a moment's notice, especially one who won't talk about his job?

Their reunion is cut short when a body is discovered and rumors fly that it's the work of a serial killer. To make matters worse, the Town Council might disband their police department, and Randy's under added pressure to solve the murder before they take action. Forced to work under the radar, Randy struggles to balance work with a shaky relationship.

Sarah can't cope with apparently meaning less to Randy than his job. Should she force him to choose between his job and the us she envisions for the two of them? All bets are off when Sarah herself becomes a suspect in Randy's case. Before long, it's more than their relationship that's in danger.

The cover was revised in July 2019, but the book's content is the same.

About the Author

Terry Odell was born in Los Angeles, moved to Florida, and now makes her home in Colorado. An avid reader (her parents tell everyone they had to move from their first home because she finished the local library), she always wanted to "fix" stories so the characters did what she wanted. Once she began writing, she found this wasn't always possible, as evidenced when the mystery she intended to write rapidly became a romance.

When she thought about it, she realized that her favorite mysteries were series where she could follow the developing relationships of the protagonist—to the point where she'd read the book twice; once for the relationship and again to follow the crime and its solution. So, she started reading romance, and found there was a genre that included mystery themes as well as a relationship.

Although her genre is labeled "romantic suspense", Terry prefers to think of her books as "Mysteries With Relationships." You can find more about her at her website, terryodell.com

Terry Odell did it again. I've never been disappointed by his books yet. This was great! I didn't put the book down until I was done.

Hidden Fire reunites Sarah and Randy who were the main characters in Finding Sarah. Once you read a novel of Terry's then you will be hooked as she sure knows how to write great romantic suspense novels with riveting plots and electrifying chemistry between the hero and heroine making another must read!!!!!!!!!!

I like any of Terry Odell's books, but I didn't care for the characterization of Sarah in Hidden Fire or the previous book called Finding Sarah. I liked everything about the books, plot, etc., but I got tired of Sarah's whiny personality. Except for that, I would have given the book five stars.

Would have been a great story without all the sex. Mysteries don't need it. In fact, it detracts from it.

I am greatly enjoying this series, and I especially appreciate the fact that each book stands alone. It’s not necessary to read Saving Sarah in order to understand Hidden Fire, nor was there a cliff-hanger ending. Yea! (But I highly recommend Saving Sarah. It’s good!) Again, the characters were deeply drawn, the pacing was page-burning, and the return trip to Pine Hills was pleasant. I have to say, however, that for a small town with no crime, they’ve certainly kept police detective Randy Detweiler busy solving murders and… well, read Hidden Fire. I’m not telling what was in those broken mugs in Sarah’s shop, That Special Something. I received this book in return for an honest review.

Terry Odell's saga of Sara Tucker continues from the excellent Finding Sara to the sequel Hidden Fire. A must read if you enjoyed the intrigue of Finding Sara.

A bit long on romance & short on mystery for my taste. Still, a very nice read
