Trick…or wicked treat!

It was a devastating dirty trick—Joey Silvia just found out her boyfriend of two years is married. What. A. Dick. Joey knows her best chance to get over one guy is to get under another. Of course, heading home to her family's remote cabin in Oregon poses some challenges in the "available men" department…until she discovers this cabin comes with its own hot handyman!

Holy crap, Chris Steffensen. When did her brother's best friend turn into a hard-bodied pile of blond-bearded hotness? He's the perfect Halloween treat—and a surprisingly dirty rebound guy. For a couple of weeks, anyway. Except that Chris has other ideas…like proving to Joey that this blast from the past is a whole lot more than a naughty Halloween hookup.

This book definitely lives up to the ‘treat’ name. Joey is a fun character. The dialogue between Joey and her best friend Kira is awesome, and Chris and Joey’s banter follows closely on the wonderful scale. I absolutely love Chris. He’s a great guy in every way. There’s plenty of humor and the sexy times are off the charts hot. I highly recommend.

I absolutely adore Tiffany Reisz!!! She is such a gifted writer. Everything she does is magic, seriously. This is a fun, sweet story brimming with quips and 80s puns.

Joey Silvia returns to Oregon for her brother’s wedding and runs into Chris Steffenson, her brother’s best friend from high school. Joey always tagged along behind her brother and Chris and was never excluded by them. The rebel Chris that she knew in high school has turned into one fine-looking man who helps her get over a disastrous romance. Even knowing he’s the rebound guy doesn’t bother Chris because he loves Joey and has since he was a teen. Can he get her to love him and stay in Oregon or will she return to Hawaii and forget him?

This novel is explicitly vivid. Reisz's descriptions pop and truly do the story justice. The spice and chemistry between the characters is unmistakable. I thought that my ereader was going to go up in flames as these two combusted. I loved how the characters had both friendship and chemistry. These weren't two strangers coming together, but rather two individuals with a very close and personal past. I really enjoyed how much we got to know about the characters and their pasts, both their childhoods together and their adult lives apart. This story was hot and fun at the same time! Reisz has definitely created a tale that will keep you warm on those cool winter nights!

RATING 4.5 STARS Her Halloween Treat is book one in the Men at Work series by Tiffany Reisz. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and have not been influenced by any outside sources. I was looking for a sexy romance to fit in with the Halloween holiday and came across this gem. I’ve never read anything by this author before and ended up loving it. Jolene “Joey” Silvia moved away from Mount Hood, Oregon and went to Honolulu to go to college. She now has a great job at Oahu Air as a Marketing Specialist and has been in a two year relationship with the man she though she’d end up marrying, Ben. That is until she realized that Ben was secretly married. She never wondered why he commuted back and forth between Los Angeles and Honolulu or why he never wanted her to visit him in LA. Now she knew why. She is now heartbroken and has gone home to Mount Hood for her brother’s wedding. Her best friend, Kira, told her that the best way to get over a relationship is to get ‘under’ another. Joey scoffed at that idea. That is until she walked in to her childhood home, a cabin her parents had taken them to since she was a little girl. When she arrived a day early, she realized the construction worker was still there finishing up a complete renovation. Only this wasn’t just any handy man. This was Chris Steffensen, her and her brother’s childhood friend whom she hasn’t seen in ten years. And boy did he grow up since the last time she was him. “You don’t get to be my first time. But maybe you can be the best time?” Joey and Chris decide to have a ten day fling for the time she is home but at the end, she will go home to Honolulu and he can’t try to make her stay. What Joey hadn’t planned on, though, was both of their hearts getting so involved. Her brother’s wedding is on Halloween which is also Joey’s birthday. The wedding is also a costume party. What an awesome idea. The time Joey and Chris spend together is the happiest times either of them have ever had. But, Joey can’t let her ex win by forcing her out of her job. She simply HAS to leave after the wedding. Staying isn’t an option. This thing with Chris is just supposed to be a rebound fling. Nothing more. Then why did it hurt so much when she thought about leaving? First I love the premise of this series. Each book is about an everyday working man. And he is that. I loved the banter these two shared. They were so much fun. I loved Joey and Chris. Was there chemistry? Oh yeah, there definitely was. And Chris was every woman’s fantasy of a dirty talking, tool belt wearing man who is basically a walking sex God. This book was perfect for me. I definitely plan to continue with the series with book two, Her Naughty Holiday which revolves around Thanksgiving. I’m so glad I found this author and hope to read much more of her work. “She belonged here. Not here in Oregon. Not here in Lost Lake. Not here in this cabin. But here, in his hands. Her body. His hands. That’s where Joey belonged.”

Her Halloween Treat is the first installment in Tiffany Reisz’s Men at Work series. This adult contemporary romance features a newly single girl on the rebound, a lumberjack-style hero, and a treat-filled holiday, all in a cozy, remote Oregon setting. Yep…sexy times ahead! There were lots of fun elements I thoroughly enjoyed, such as wild friends, a family business, sexy banter, and flawed characters, all of which added a few layers of laughter and emotion. The characters were all involved in organizing/attending a costumed Halloween-themed wedding which was a pretty original idea I thought. Honestly though, if I wasn't anticipating this book solely because of the author, I wouldn’t have had any idea Tiffany Reisz wrote it. It was fun to read, but I always look forward to Ms. Reisz pushing the envelope in some way but she stayed fairly plain-jane contemporary in this one. It’s all good though. Tiffany Reisz can do no wrong in my opinion so I will read anything she writes…cheesy looking Harlequin romances included. My favorite quote: “You do such good work”. “I hope you’re still saying that an hour from now”. “I was talking about the woodwork”. “That’s one name for it.” Tiffany Reisz’s holiday-themed Men at Work series includes the following installments as of September 2016: #1-Her Halloween Treat (September 2016) #2-Her Naughty Holiday (October 2016) #3-One Hot December (November 2016)

Her Halloween Treat, (Men at Work 1), Tiffany Reisz  Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre:  Romance. I adore Tiffany's writing, began with book one of the Sinners stories and have been hooked since. This book is a very different style, much lighter, a quick, sexy and sensual ( and the two aren't necessarily the same...) read. She's got the knack of joining humour with sex, and making it funny not sleazy, though at times I wanted to shout, less talk, more action. I loved the characters, and of course as Joey knew Chris from school it means that pages are not wasted in this quick story with them getting to know one another. They've grown up though, and the attraction between them is still there - and they jump straight in to giving in to it. Joey tells herself she's just following her best friend's advice " the best way to get over a man is to get under another" and Chris? Well, he just can't seem to stop himself from following her lead and getting hot and heavy with her. Joey isn't looking for anything more than a rebound fling, but Chris? Well, he wants more and needs to show her he isn't just "the next guy". Then it all gets complicated.... It's a fun read, love the humour, but Tiffany is so good at that she always makes me smile with lines like this:- "Good Job" he said to his c -ck. They were a good team too.  There were times though when it came over as a bit too forced, where the less is more approach might have been better - for me anyway.  If you're looking for a shortish, steamy, easy read this one is perfect. Why aren't all builders/handymen like this? The ones we've had bear no resemblance, but I guess I'm not Joey either ! I enjoyed it but unlike Sinners it's not one for keeping and re reading.  Stars: five, a quick, fun and sensual read.  ARC supplied by Netgalley and publisher

On the way to her childhood home in Oregon to attend her brother's wedding, Joey Silvia makes a surprise visit to her boyfriend in Los Angeles. While they've dated for two happy years, he has never invited her to his home . . . they've always "got together" at work in Hawaii. Should she have suspected something fishy? Definitely. Because when she knocks on his front door, his wife answers. Humiliated & devastated, Joey catches a cab back to the airport, continuing her trip to Oregon where she will stay in a remote family cabin. Upon arrival, she discovers her brother's best friend Chris Steffenson working as a handyman fixing up the cabin. The cabin is absolutely beautiful - and so is he! My, my, but he's developed some mighty fine muscles in all the right places. Sparks fly and the sexual innuendos begin. Joey's best friend tells her the best way to get over a guy is to get under another one! Is that true? Should she take her friend's advice? Chris is ready, willing, & obviously able. Let the games begin! Her Halloween Treat is witty, steamy, passionate, and romantic - with just the right dose of wickedness. Light on drama and angst, it's a feel-good romance featuring a woman on the rebound and a deliciously sexy man who works with his hands. Grab a cold drink and curl up on the couch with this book on a rainy afternoon, and you'll read it cover to cover. A Must Read!

Her Halloween Treat is the first of three Harlequin Blaze books in the Men at Work series by Tiffany Reisz. If the next ones in the series are as good as this one, they'll get top billing on my bookshelf as fun, sexy reads starring down to earth blue-collar heroes. Joey just discovered that her boyfriend of two years is married. A trip home for her brother's wedding is the first step in moving on with her life. Se settles into the beloved family cabin, only to discover that it's been beautifully renovated by her brother Dillon’s best friend Chris. Chris is no longer the scrawny, geeky Nirvana loving teenager she knew. Well, he might still love Nirvana but he’s grown into a very handsome, hardworking builder/carpenter/good with his hands kind of guy. And when he offers to put those hands on her, Joey’s not about to say no. She’s had her heart broken once though, and while a sexy fling with Chris might help her heal, she's got no plans to move back to Oregon even if her brother Dillon wants her to consider coming to work for him and his new lake resort business. Can Chris convince her that their newfound relationship is not a trick but a treat that could last a lifetime? This book is really funny. The words that come out of these characters’ mouths made me laugh out loud numerous times. It definitely will be on my list of favourite romantic comedies of 2016. The circumstances of Joey’s breakup are dealt with in a fairly lighthearted vein, and clearly her ex Ben is a jerk. Meeting Chris again, and finding herself attracted to him (and definitely vice versa) is the ego boost Joey needs and a reminder that there are still good guys out there. Chris is a sweetheart of a hero – but he’s also got some sexy alpha male tendencies and puts those to good use with Joey. The result is several super steamy scenes between them. Chris knows Joey’s on the rebound, and that the fling they are having is a short term affair but it doesn’t change his reality – that he was in love with Joey back in high school and he’s falling in love with her all over again. In a way it’s an insta-love story and in a way it’s not. These two have a strong history of friendship and affection even if they haven’t seen each other in years. It’s not surprising that those feelings come to the surface as they interact as adults, and just add to the emotions brought on by their sexual affair. Joey’s new found feelings for Chris get put to the the test as she has to make some decisions about her future. The setting of the story is lovely, a picturesque mountainous area of Oregon that is well described and very enticing. If you are looking for a funny, steamy romance with likable, believable characters, you'll find it with Her Halloween Treat! I look forward to reading more of this series.

HER HALLOWEEN TREAT is a delightfully funny and sexy read! Tiffany Reisz is a brilliant writer! I adore her wicked sense of humor! Chris and Joey were magic together! Their chemistry was off the charts and their witty banter had me laughing out loud many, many times! I couldn’t put the book down! The story was fast-paced and did I mention funny? I absolutely LOVED it! Now we know that Ms. Reisz writes some very risqué and controversial stories (such as The Original Sinners series) but you won’t find that material in this book. Oh, it’s HOT! Don’t get me wrong, but it is a lot more “vanilla” than her other stories. Chris is a super sexy lumberjack-type handyman with a beard, dirty blond hair and a smile so sexy it will melt your butter! I loved that Chris and Joey knew each other and grew up together. I also loved the storyline and that while it was funny and steamy, there’s also a beautiful fragility to it that made it easy for me to relate to the characters. HER HALLOWEEN TREAT is a must-read for anyone who loves exciting stories and their romance a little smutty! I highly recommend it! ***I want to thank the publisher for generously offering me an early copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***
